  • Patent number: 5093402
Abstract: Solid golf balls are produced by the method comprising the steps of preparing a polymer cement in a suitable organic solvent, forming a suspension of the metal salt of an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid in a suitable aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent miscible with the organic solvent, mixing the polymer cement and the suspension together, removing the solvents to provide the metal salt uniformly dispersed within the polymer, and thereafter manufacturing a solid golf ball therefrom. Solid golf balls comprise a vulcanizable rubber and from about 5 to 100 parts by weight of a reinforcing filler comprising a metal salt of an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, per 100 parts of the vulcanizable rubber. When the metal salts are incorporated via solution masterbatching, the resulting golf balls have improved physical properties.

  • Patent number: 4889677
Abstract: A method of molding and vulcanizing more than 40 rubber products successively by using a curing bladder, which has been treated at the surface thereof with a silicone composition including:(a) 100 parts by weight of a polyorganosiloxane composed mainly of polydimethylsiloxane with a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of from 3,000 to 5,000,000 cst,(b) from 30 to 300 parts by weight of a polymethylhydrogensiloxane with a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of from 10 to 70 cst,(c) from 2 to 25 parts by weight of a finely powderous silica, and,(d) from 0 to 30 parts by weight of an organic acid salt of one or more of metals selected from the group consisting of zinc, magnesium, manganese and cobalt.

  • Patent number: 4714734
Abstract: Rubber compounds comprising a specific type of polyorganosiloxane of the following formula ##STR1## in which R and R' independently represent a hydrocarbon substituent and n is an integer of not smaller than 3 provided that at least 6 mole % of the substituents R and R' consists of a hydrocarbon group having Small's molecular attraction constant not smaller than 350. Carbon black is added to the polyorganosiloxane whereby various physical properties are improved including breaking strength, water and hot water resistances. The rubber compound may further comprise at least one organic rubber other than the above polyorganosiloxane.

  • Patent number: 4710541
Abstract: An improved process for molding and vulcanizing rubber products using a curing bladder, characterized in that the bladder is one which is made of a rubber compound containing (A) organic rubber and (B) polyorganosiloxane, the ratio of (A)/(B) being 95/5 to 5/95, or the bladder is one which is produced by surface treating (A) organic rubber with a silicone composition containing (A) organic rubber and (B) polyorganosiloxane, said polyorganosiloxane comprising at least two monovalent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon groups having five or more carbon atoms and a C.dbd.C double bond connected to the silicon atom through at least one carbon atom, and having a degree of polymerization greater than 20.

  • Patent number: 4590123
Abstract: A soft, low-resilience, cured rubber composition is prepared by mixing(a) 100 parts by weight of a polymeric material comprising a styrene-butadiene copolymer or styrene-butadiene copolymer mixture having a styrene content of 53 to 75% by weight, and 0 to 40% by weight of the polymeric material of another rubber ingredient,(b) 30 to 300 parts by weight of a filler, and(c) 5 to 100 parts by weight of a plasticizer, adding effective amounts of a vulcanizing agent and a vulcanizing accelerator to the mixture, and then heat curing the mixture. A similar composition further containing a foaming agent may be heat cured into a low-resilience rubber foam. Rubber and foamed rubber compositions have improved vibration-attenuating and shock-absorbing properties.
