  • Patent number: 6874196
Abstract: A reed cleaning apparatus is provided with rotary brushes (16) supported on a carriage (3) that travels along the upper bar (2) of a reed for rotation about an axis parallel to guide groove (17) formed in the reed. Flexible shafts (15) are used to transmit rotative force to the rotary brushes (16) to form the reed cleaning apparatus in compact construction, to dispose the rotary brushes close to the reed, to form the rotary brushes in a small diameter, and to enable cleaning the reed with warp yarns extended through the reed by depressing the warp yarns. The rotary brushes are disposed at the opposite longitudinal ends, respectively, of the carriage (3) to enable the reed cleaning apparatus to clean the entire length of the reed.

  • Patent number: 5022439
Abstract: A system for replacing a filled cloth roller with an empty cloth roller for a loom is comprised of two rotatable shafts which are oppositely disposed and respectively supported by side frames of the loom. Each rotatable shaft is fixedly provided with an engaging member engageable with an end section of the cloth roller. The two rotatable shafts are automatically driven to move axially under the action of a pneumatically operated actuator, so that the engaging members are disengaged respectively from the opposite end sections of the cloth roller for the purpose of removing the filled cloth roller from the loom while engaged respectively with the same end sections for the purpose of installing the empty cloth roller to the loom. One of the rotatable shafts is driven from a loom main shaft to rotate the cloth roller, thus taking up a woven cloth on the cloth roller during the weaving operation of the loom.

  • Patent number: 4957143
Abstract: A reed operating system for a loom of the type wherein the advance position of a reed is altered. The reed operating system is comprised of a generally V-shaped swingable link through which the movement of a crank is transmitted to a sley sword to make swinging motion of the reed. The swingable link is rotatably mounted on and swingable around a pivot shaft which is mechanically connected to a hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder so operates as to shift the position of the pivot shaft in a predetermined distance in a predetermined direction in accordance with a predetermined pattern, thus altering the advance position of the reed while hardly altering the backdown position of the reed.

  • Patent number: 4781221
Abstract: A method of removing a mispicked weft yarn when a mispick occurs in a loom. The operation of the loom in a state where the mispicked weft yarn is connected to weft inserting means after the mispicked weft yarn is beaten up by a reed. The mispicked weft yarn is exposed at the cloth fell of a woven cloth. A weft yarn connected to the mispicked weft yarn is inserted from a weft picking side to a counter-weft picking side of the loom. The inserted weft yarn is drawn together with the mispicked weft yarn to the counter-weft picking side, thereby effectively peeling off the mispicked weft yarn from the cloth fell.

  • Patent number: 4759393
Abstract: A loom having a drum type weft reservoir including a drum on which a predetermined length of a weft yarn is wound to be measured and reserved prior to weft picking. The weft reservoir is automatically prepared for loom starting by merely operating a manual switch. The local includes a clutch which is engaged at a predetermined operational phase of the loom to drive the weft reservoir. If the manual switch is actuated when the clutch is disengaged, then the clutch is engaged at a second time substantially later than the first time at which the predetermined operational phase is reached. Any cut, broken or unnecessary weft yarn remaining wound on the drum when the switch is actuated is removed during the interval between the first and second times, e.g. by pulling the weft yarn from the side of a weft inserting nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4711273
Abstract: A loom is provided with a member movable together with a reed and formed with a guide space through which a weft yarn projected from a weft inserting nozzle is picked into the shed of warp yarns. An air flow passage is provided to merge in the guide space in such a manner than the weft yarn lying in the guide space is forced into the air flow passage to be removed under the influence of air stream developed through the guide space, thereby surely removing a mispicked weft yarn from the warp shed.
