  • Patent number: 7230655
Abstract: A demultiplexer separates channel list data and a remote control key ID from a digital broadcasting wave given off by a broadcasting station, and a CPU acquires the data. Frequency information and a channel list for receiving the broadcasting station are caused to correspond to a one-touch key having a number indicated by the remote control key ID. When a user presses the one-touch key, one channel is selected on the basis of a channel list in a memory. When the user continuously presses the one-touch key, for example, the channel list may be displayed on a screen so that the user can select a desired channel from the displayed list using a direction key and an enter key. Alternatively, when the user continuously presses the one-touch key, the subsequent channel in the channel list may be selected.

  • Patent number: 7061544
Abstract: A digital television receiver includes a CS receive circuit (12). This CS receive circuit receives a digital television broadcast signal. The digital television broadcast signal contains video data from which first video data is created as well as EPG data from which second video data is created. First and second video compression circuits (18, 20) respectively compress first and second video data and output first and second compression video signals. The first and second compression video signals are composited together by a video compositing circuit (22). Consequently, on the monitor (24) are displayed EPG and broadcast video picture in a 2-screens form.

  • Patent number: 6731346
Abstract: A television including a CS digital circuit to receive a CS digital television broadcast signal. A micom circuit detects a broadcast mode of the digital television broadcast. Where the broadcast mode is in a first mode, or usual broadcast mode, the power supply to a video output section and audio output section, for example, is turned on to output video images and sound respectively through a CRT and a speaker. Also, where the broadcast mode is in a second mode, or radio broadcast mode, the power supply to the video output section is turned off. Where the broadcast mode is in a third mode, or data broadcast mode, the power supply to both the image output section and the audio output section is turned off.

  • Publication number: 20030122970
Abstract: If a digital broadcasting receiver is installed in a kitchen, for example, a user uses a remote control transmitter, to display an installation place setting screen on a monitor and select “kitchen”. When such selection is performed, information related to the place of installation is stored in a nonvolatile memory. Conditions (keywords) such as “housewife” and “cooking” are registered with respect to the place of installation “kitchen”, and a CPU carries out control so as to select programs satisfying such conditions.

  • Publication number: 20020060747
Abstract: Advertising information and advertising area information are carried on a digital broadcasting wave. A CPU acquires the current position on the basis of demodulation data outputted from a GPS receiving circuit and a beacon receiving circuit, takes out advertising information having advertising area information existing within a predetermined range, centered around the current position, and stores the advertising information in a CM data memory. The CPU reads out, when it detects that a program which is being currently received is switched into a commercial (CM) on the basis of a mode signal outputted from an AV decoder, the advertising information from the CM data memory, and outputs the advertising information by audio/video in place of the commercial.
