  • Patent number: 8170236
Abstract: Band-pass filter suppresses frequency components of a sound signal that are lower than a low-side cutoff frequency and that are higher than a high-side cutoff frequency. Pitch detection section detects a pitch of the sound signal having been processed by the band-pass filter. Target setting section variably sets a low-side target value lower than the pitch detected by the pitch detection section and a high-side target value higher than the detected pitch. Filter control section causes the low-side cutoff frequency to approach the low-side target value over time and causes the high-side cutoff frequency to approach the high-side target value over time. In this way, a pass band of the band-pass filter can be smoothly variably controlled in accordance with pitch change of the sound signal that is an object of pitch detection.

  • Patent number: 6351540
Abstract: An input musical sound signal is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter (10), and then supplied to a feed back loop (22) having a digital delay circuit (16), so that an echo is produced. A distortion-adding block (28) is disposed in the feed back loop (22) to add distortion components corresponding to distortion and the like due to recording and reproducing processes of a tape-recorder-type analog echo, to the echo signal. The delay time of the digital delay circuit (16) is modulated, so that fluctuation components corresponding to, for example, wow and flutter components of a tape-recorder-type analog echo are added to the signal. The echo produced in the feed back loop (22) is returned to an analog signal by a D/A converter (24), and then added to the original sound by an adder (26). A result of the addition is then output.

  • Patent number: 6036498
Abstract: A karaoke apparatus responds to a request for producing a karaoke music piece to accompany a live singing performance of words of the karaoke music piece by a karaoke player. In the karaoke apparatus, a storage device stores music data representing a plurality of karaoke music pieces and speech data representing speech sounds of words of the karaoke music pieces. An operation panel operates upon a request for designating a karaoke music piece to be performed. A tone generator retrieves the music data corresponding to the designated karaoke music piece from the storage device so as to generate music tones of the designated karaoke music piece to thereby accompany the live singing performance.

  • Patent number: 5902951
Abstract: A chorus apparatus is constructed for creating a chorus sound to accompany a vocal sound which is sung by a singer. In the chorus apparatus, a providing device provides music information including reference pitch information which indicates a regular variation of an actual pitch of the vocal sound and harmony pitch information which determines a harmony pitch of the chorus sound. A detecting device detects the actual pitch of the vocal sound containing the regular variation and an irregular fluctuation which overlaps the regular variation. A controlling device extracts the irregular fluctuation of the actual pitch from the vocal sound according to the reference pitch information, and modifies the harmony pitch information to impart thereto a desired fluctuation corresponding to the irregular fluctuation extracted from the vocal sound. A generating device operates according to the modified harmony pitch information for generating the chorus sound containing the desired fluctuation over the harmony pitch.

  • Patent number: 4587620
Abstract: A noise elimination device employs a concept of the linear prediction method. According to the invention, a linear prediction coefficient of a digitized, continuous input signal (an original signal) is calculated, a linear predicted value is computed from this linear prediction coefficient, difference (a prediction error) between the linear predicted value and the input signal is computed whereas a threshold value is set in accordance with the momentarily changing input signal, the judgement that a noise has occurred is made when the predicted value has exceeded the threshold value and thereupon a substitution signal is produced on the basis of an input signal existing in the vicinity of the time point at which the noise has occurred, and the section in which the noise has occurred is substituted by this substitution signal thereby to eliminate the noise.

  • Patent number: 4244257
Abstract: A wave-shape generator advantageously used for generation of various wave-shape signals on electronic musical instruments comprises, as a substitute for multiple wave-shape memories needed in the conventional wave-shape generators, a combination of a single wave-shape memory with a weighting parameter signal generator. Modulation of the wave-shape signals via multiplication by corresponding weighting parameter signals enables formation of a wide variety of different wave-shape signals without enlargement in construction, the wave-shape signals being changeable even in a time-functional fashion too.
