  • Publication number: 20070187004
Abstract: A hub ring and/or an outer ring constituting a bearing device for a wheel, which is formed of a steel which contains 0.45 to 0.70 mass % of C and at least one of V, Nb and Ti in a total amount of 0.3 mass % or less, wherein a micro structure of a part being not surface-hardening-treated contains a ferrite in 15 to 30 area % and contains a particulate ferrite.

  • Publication number: 20060023984
Abstract: A bearing apparatus for a vehicle driving wheel which prevents generation of stick-slip noise as well as fretting wear to improve durability of the bearing apparatus has an outer member (10) formed with double row outer raceway surfaces (10a, 10a) on its inner circumferential surface. An inner member (1, 27) is formed with double row inner raceway surface (2a (24a), 3a) opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces (10a, 10a). Double row rolling elements (6) are freely rollably maintained between the outer and inner raceway surfaces (10a, 10a; 2a (24a), 3a), respectively, of the outer and inner member (10; 1, 27). A constant velocity universal joint (11, 26), for torque transmission, is inserted into the inner member (10; 1, 27). The constant velocity universal joint abuts and is axially separably connected to the inner member via a nut (19).

  • Publication number: 20050018939
Abstract: To reduce the weight of the wheel support bearing assembly without sacrificing the strength, the wheel support bearing assembly for rotatably supporting a vehicle wheel relative to a vehicle body structure includes a hub axle (2) formed with a radially outwardly extending hub flange (12). This hub flange (12) has an inner peripheral portion and a remaining wall portion other than the inner peripheral portion, and the remaining wall portion thereof is constituted by a plurality of radially outwardly extending ribs (13) each formed with a bolt insertion hole (14). The hub axle (2) also includes a brake pilot area (16) extending outwardly from an outboard face of the hub flange (12) for guiding an inner peripheral surface of the brake rotor (41). At least the root diameter (D1) of at least an inboard face of each rib (13) is chosen to be equal to or smaller than the outer diameter (D2) of the brake pilot area (16).

  • Publication number: 20040252927
Abstract: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus which can increase the strength and durability of the hub wheel under rotary bending conditions as well as lighten the apparatus without changing the configuration and dimension of the wheel mounting flange and without causing surface run-out has an outer member formed with double row outer raceway surfaces on its inner peripheral surface. An inner member is formed with double row inner raceway surfaces arranged opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces. Double row rolling elements are freely rollably contained between the outer and inner raceway surfaces, respectively, of the outer and inner members. A wheel mounting flange is integrally formed with either one of the outer or inner members. At least one of the outer and inner members, on which the wheel mounting flange is formed, is heat treated and their raceway surfaces are hardened by quenching to a predetermined surface hardness.

  • Patent number: 6712707
Abstract: A driving wheel bearing device has an outer member on an inner peripheral surface forming double row raceways, an inner member on an outer peripheral surface of which raceways opposing to raceways of the outer member and a wheel mounting flange are formed, double row rolling elements between each raceway of the outer and inner members, and a constant velocity universal joint having a joint outer ring of which a shaft portion is inserted into the inner member such that torque is transmittable, the bearing device rotatably supporting a wheel on an automobile body, wherein a pilot portion is provided between a base part of the shaft portion of the joint outer ring and an end portion of the inner member.

  • Patent number: 4846592
Abstract: An annular oil filter for covering an open end of a rolling bearing has its outer edge held between two annular retainer plates, the outer edges of which are held by a rubber mold to unite them into one body. The rubber mold is resiliently received in an annular groove formed in the inner wall of an outer ring at its end. The oil filter has its inner edge in contact with a shoulder formed on the outer wall of an inner ring.
