Patent number: 7553099Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises a paper feed tray that can be opened and closed with respect to the apparatus body and a cover tray that can double as a manual feed tray. The paper feed tray has first side walls and first protrusions formed on the inner surfaces of the first side walls. The cover tray has: connection portions that are configured to be detachably connected to pivot shafts provided at the apparatus body and that are connected to the pivot shafts so as to rotate about the pivot shafts; second side walls; and second protrusions formed on the outer surfaces of the second side walls. The cover tray serves as a cover for covering sheets of paper stacked on the paper feed tray when it is in a position where the second protrusions are located below the first protrusions.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2006Date of Patent: June 30, 2009Assignee: Funai Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takayoshi Bandou, Yoshihiko Imura

Patent number: 7413362Abstract: A paper tray for a printer includes a paper support plate for supporting paper sheets stacked thereon and a support frame formed on the printer body adjacent the paper inlet. The paper support plate has a C-shaped hook having a base portion and upper and lower arms. The support frame has a protruding shaft and an upwardly inclined housing wall. The paper support plate is detachably hinged to the support frame with the C-shaped hook engaged with the protruding shaft so as to be rotated between a vertical position and a horizontal position. The housing wall extends forward beyond the protruding shaft and has a horizontal surface serving as a contact surface at the top of the extending portion. The C-shaped hook has a rib at the base portion. When the paper support plate is rotated to the horizontal position, the rotation is limited by the under surface of the rib coming in contact with the top surface of the extending portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2006Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Funai Electric Co., Ltd.Inventor: Takayoshi Bandou

Patent number: 7306217Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises a paper feed tray, which is attached to the apparatus body so as to be freely opened and closed with respect to the apparatus body, and a paper pressing plate disposed inside the apparatus body. The paper feed tray has a pair of protrusions on the inner surfaces of the side walls thereof. The paper pressing plate has a pair of notches formed by partially cutting the side portions of the plate so that, when the paper feed tray is in the closed position, the protrusions of the paper feed tray are received in the notches and the side faces of the paper pressing plate where the notches are formed face the protrusions in a manner that are almost in contact with the protrusions. When a force acts on the paper feed tray in the closed position to bend inward the side walls of the paper feed tray, the protrusions are pressed against the portions of the paper pressing plate where the notches are formed so as to stop the inward bending of the side walls.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2006Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Funai Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takayoshi Bandou, Yoshihiko Imura
