    Abstract: An object is to provide a novel variant reverse transcriptase with excellent stability. The present invention provides a variant reverse transcriptase consisting of an amino acid sequence having at least 90% identity with an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein a cysteine residue at a position corresponding to at least one position selected from the group consisting of 90, 157, 236, 262, 310, 409, 495, and 635 is modified. In a specific embodiment, the modification of the cysteine residue is substitution with at least one non-polar amino acid residue selected from the group consisting of alanine, glycine, valine, leucine, and isoleucine.
