  • Publication number: 20060201408
Abstract: A small boat with a sponson for preventing splashing of spray onto the deck of the boat. The small boat is provided with a hull sponson at an outer periphery of the hull in order to fit the deck constituting an upper part of a boat body to the hull constituting a lower part of the boat body. A deck sponson is provided at an outer periphery of the deck, and the deck sponson is overlaid so as to bond with the hull sponson. The extent of projection of one member of the hull sponson and the deck sponson at the front section of the boat body is larger than the extent of projection of a member of the hull sponson and the deck sponson at a second member of the boat body. As a result, when the small boat is gliding and collides with a wave, the sponson prevents spray from the wave from splashing onto the deck.

  • Publication number: 20060205294
Abstract: A muffler support mechanism for a small boat is capable of reducing the number of parts required to fix a water muffler. The muffler support mechanism includes a second water muffler mounted on a left recess of a support plate. A bracing flotation member is mounted on an upper part of the rear half of the second water muffler. A bonding surface of a deck of the small boat is bonded to a bonding surface of the hull. As a result, an upper end of the bracing flotation member is pressed by the deck. The second water muffler is pushed into the left recess by the bracing flotation member.

  • Patent number: 7008278
Abstract: A lever-support bracket apparatus for a small waterboat allows a lever-support bracket and a socket section to be increased in strength and rigidity, by combining these functions in a single unitary apparatus. Using the described apparatus, a lever-support bracket and a socket section can be laid out rather easily, and the number of members can be reduced. With a lever support bracket apparatus 30, a reverse operation lever 34 is allowed to operate a reverse bucket 21, and the reverse operation lever 34 is arranged proximate the front end of a seat 23 and is attached, to swing freely, to a hull 11 using the lever-support bracket 31. Further, to the lever-support bracket 31, a socket section 55 is formed, to be a piece therewith, into which a tongue-shaped piece 51 at a front end 50 of the seat 23 can be inserted.

  • Patent number: 6960109
Abstract: An engine intake structure for a small boat arranged in a comparatively small space. The structure includes an intake box having an upper intake section facing one or more intake ports, and a lower intake section extending downwards from the upper intake section. The upper intake section and the lower intake section are partitioned by a mesh member. An air cleaner element is arranged in an extension section of the lower intake section, so that, after external air flows into the lower intake section via the air cleaner element, the air flows to the upper intake section, and then into the intake ports.

  • Patent number: 6874438
Abstract: A personal watercraft deck structure includes a deck, a rear portion opening provided continuously to the rear of a seat underlying opening in the deck, and a bridge member is removably attached at a boundary between the seat underlying opening and the rear portion opening (or at the rear portion opening). A rear portion of a seat is supported by the bridge member, while the rear portion opening is operatively closed with a rear cover. When maintenance of an engine and other equipment disposed within the deck structure is to be performed, the bridge member may be removed. As a result, the seat underlying opening and the rear portion opening are connected to each other and fully exposed, and therefore, a large opening can be obtained for facilitating maintenance of the engine and other equipment.

  • Patent number: 6739921
Abstract: An exhaust system for a small boat is constructed in such a manner that an exhaust pipe extends rearwardly from an engine provided in a hull of the boat. A water muffler is provided in the exhaust pipe, and exhaust gas is discharged through a water lock pipe extending upward from a water muffler. A water lock pipe has an inverted U-shape. A resonator chamber for attenuating resonance of the water lock pipe is provided in the water muffler. The resulting configuration provides an effective system for reducing exhaust noise emanating from the small boat.

  • Patent number: 6679742
Abstract: To provide an exhaust structure for a jet propulsion watercraft which can simply achieve a reduction of the exhaust noise. In the exhaust structure for a jet propulsion watercraft, a water jet propeller is provided in a pump room of a watercraft body. An engine for driving the watercraft is connected to the water jet propeller. An exhaust opening of an exhaust pipe is attached to the engine and is exposed to a pump room. A resonator for sound deadening is provided for the exhaust pipe. Further, in the exhaust structure for a jet propulsion watercraft, the resonator is bent in a meandering state such that bent portions thereof are positioned adjacent to each other so that the entire resonator has a substantially flat plate-like configuration. The resonator having a plate-like configuration is laid along a ceiling wall of the pump room.

  • Patent number: 6598551
Abstract: A rear grip structure for a small boat capable of discharging water which has entered the boat from between the hull side and the seat. The rear grip structure for a small boat has a structure in which an outer frame is formed into a hollow structure and is inclined upward. The outer frame 31 formed with the first eyelets at the lower portions on the left and the right and with the second eyelets at the portions higher than the first eyelets. This enables the outer frame to play the role of a drain trough, such that when water collects in the rear grip structure, it is taken into the hollow outer frame through the second eyelets. Thereafter, the water in the hollow frame flows down the incline of the hollow frame and is discharged through the first eyelets. The rear grip structure is mounted on the upper hull with a plurality of mounting bolts.
