Publication number: 20060201408Abstract: A small boat with a sponson for preventing splashing of spray onto the deck of the boat. The small boat is provided with a hull sponson at an outer periphery of the hull in order to fit the deck constituting an upper part of a boat body to the hull constituting a lower part of the boat body. A deck sponson is provided at an outer periphery of the deck, and the deck sponson is overlaid so as to bond with the hull sponson. The extent of projection of one member of the hull sponson and the deck sponson at the front section of the boat body is larger than the extent of projection of a member of the hull sponson and the deck sponson at a second member of the boat body. As a result, when the small boat is gliding and collides with a wave, the sponson prevents spray from the wave from splashing onto the deck.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2006Publication date: September 14, 2006Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Takayoshi Miura, Takao Kochi

Patent number: 7008278Abstract: A lever-support bracket apparatus for a small waterboat allows a lever-support bracket and a socket section to be increased in strength and rigidity, by combining these functions in a single unitary apparatus. Using the described apparatus, a lever-support bracket and a socket section can be laid out rather easily, and the number of members can be reduced. With a lever support bracket apparatus 30, a reverse operation lever 34 is allowed to operate a reverse bucket 21, and the reverse operation lever 34 is arranged proximate the front end of a seat 23 and is attached, to swing freely, to a hull 11 using the lever-support bracket 31. Further, to the lever-support bracket 31, a socket section 55 is formed, to be a piece therewith, into which a tongue-shaped piece 51 at a front end 50 of the seat 23 can be inserted.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2003Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Takayoshi Miura

Patent number: 6874438Abstract: A personal watercraft deck structure includes a deck, a rear portion opening provided continuously to the rear of a seat underlying opening in the deck, and a bridge member is removably attached at a boundary between the seat underlying opening and the rear portion opening (or at the rear portion opening). A rear portion of a seat is supported by the bridge member, while the rear portion opening is operatively closed with a rear cover. When maintenance of an engine and other equipment disposed within the deck structure is to be performed, the bridge member may be removed. As a result, the seat underlying opening and the rear portion opening are connected to each other and fully exposed, and therefore, a large opening can be obtained for facilitating maintenance of the engine and other equipment.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2003Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Jun Nakajima, Tadaaki Nagata, Takayoshi Miura

Patent number: 6598551Abstract: A rear grip structure for a small boat capable of discharging water which has entered the boat from between the hull side and the seat. The rear grip structure for a small boat has a structure in which an outer frame is formed into a hollow structure and is inclined upward. The outer frame 31 formed with the first eyelets at the lower portions on the left and the right and with the second eyelets at the portions higher than the first eyelets. This enables the outer frame to play the role of a drain trough, such that when water collects in the rear grip structure, it is taken into the hollow outer frame through the second eyelets. Thereafter, the water in the hollow frame flows down the incline of the hollow frame and is discharged through the first eyelets. The rear grip structure is mounted on the upper hull with a plurality of mounting bolts.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2002Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Jun Nakajima, Takayoshi Miura
