  • Publication number: 20020074171
Abstract: A pen input apparatus includes a plurality of penpoints for drawing tracks on a recording medium such as paper, and a selector for selecting a specific penpoint from the plurality of penpoints. The input apparatus including a type recognition unit for recognizing the type of the selected penpoint (such as the color of a line which can be drawn, the thickness of the line, pen type such as ballpoint pen, sign pen or fluorescent pen), and a transmitter for transmitting the track of the penpoint as position information, and transmitting the information on the type recognized by the type recognition unit to a computer system.

  • Publication number: 20020067347
Abstract: Provides control movement of a display area to an image displayed outside a display screen by means of a touch operation using a touch panel in such a general-purpose environment as a desk-top screen of an operating system. In an example embodiment, a data processing apparatus employs a touch panel unit as an input unit. The data processing apparatus includes an operation event detector for detecting an operation preset, to be distinguished from other normal inputs to the panel touch unit; a cursor movement information generator for generating movement information used to move a cursor positioned at the periphery of a display screen to the outside thereof; a cursor movement controller for moving the position of the cursor on a display image according to the generated movement information; and a virtual screen controller for scrolling an item displayed on the display screen according to a cursor movement.

  • Patent number: 4706205
Abstract: Digital information representing a displayable image is selectively modified to create various rotation effects, including rotations of the viewed image about various lines in its display plane and angular rotations within that plane. In the modification process, the information is moved between source and destination areas in a data processing system memory, without requiring intermediate buffer storage of the information during the process and therefore without requiring additional processing steps associated with intermediate buffer storage. The source and destination areas are of equal size and may overlap. This technique is applicable to document scanning apparatus as well as computer display apparatus.
