  • Patent number: 7204401
Abstract: A web material feeding apparatus has a suction plate 24 provided near an outlet of a reservoir box 2. The suction plate 24 can be shifted in the direction across a feeding path for tip paper C, by operation of a motor 76. The feeding apparatus also has a sensor unit 96 provided at the upstream side of a receiving drum 12. The sensor unit 96 supplies a detection signal to a controller 120. When the controller 120 detects meandering of the tip paper C on the basis of the detection signal supplied from the sensor unit 96, the controller 120 actuates the motor 76 to shift the suction plate 24 to thereby correct the meandering of the tip paper C.

  • Patent number: 6913023
Abstract: A filter attaching apparatus comprises a drum 20 for conveying an intermediate product of a filter cigarette and a receiving drum 36 for feeding a tip paper piece, and winds the tip paper piece around the intermediate product while rotating these drums with the tip paper piece adhered to the intermediate product. Suction chambers 48 and 50 are disposed in the vicinity of the drum 20 that conveys the intermediate product, and suction openings of the suction chambers extend in a conveying direction of the intermediate product along an outer periphery of the drum 20. Fine particles of shredded tobacco and the like that are scattered by rotation of the drum 20 are sucked through the suction openings into the suction chambers 48 and 50 and the like, so that the intermediate product is completely isolated from an atmosphere of the fine particles of the shredded tobacco and the like.

  • Patent number: 6808059
Abstract: A removing apparatus for rod-like articles comprises a removing drum (24) as part of a transport path for the articles such as cigarettes, double filter cigarettes and filter cigarettes in a filter cigarette manufacturing machine, and many transport grooves (48) formed on the outer circumferential surface of the drum (24) for receiving the articles. Adjacent grooves (48) have suction holes (52) at different axial positions thereof. While passing through a suction holding region (A) of the removing drum (24), the adjacent transport grooves (48) receive holding pressure for the articles, from the corresponding holding passages (68) of the region (A) through the suction holes (52). The passages (68) extend longer than the pitch of the transport grooves (48). When compressed air is supplied to a passage (68), the passage (68) allows the compressed air to blow out from connected suction holes (52) to thereby remove the article from the corresponding transport groove (48).

  • Patent number: 5984851
Abstract: A grading device includes an assembly drum with feeding grooves, and a grading drum arranged adjacent to the assembly drum and rotating in the opposite direction from that of the assembly drum at twice the peripheral speed. The grading drum has a pair of groove arrays which have grading grooves with a pitch twice that of feeding grooves on the assembly drum. The grading grooves of adjacent arrays are shifted from each other by a half pitch. The grading device further includes a pair of fork claws for holding a pair of charcoal plugs received in the feeding groove in cooperation with the outer peripheral surface of the grading drum when the paired charcoal plugs on the assembly drum pass by the grading drum. • Patent number: 5666869
Abstract: A tip paper cutting apparatus for a filter cigarette manufacturing system includes a pair of brush rollers arranged close to a bladed drum, and a brush is mounted on the outer peripheral surface of each brush roller so as to be in contact with cutting blades of the bladed drum. Olive oil is atomized by compressed air in a spraying device, and supplied to passages formed within the brush rollers. Olive oil is then sprayed toward the brushes from spray ports of the passages opening in the outer peripheral surfaces of the brush rollers so as to pass through the brushes. Accordingly, even when the brush rollers are rotating at high speed, the brushes can be sufficiently soaked with olive oil passing therethrough. As a result, the cutting blades are reliably applied with olive oil by means of the brushes, and good cutting quality of the blades can be maintained.

  • Patent number: 5607043
Abstract: A device for aligning rod members includes a separation drum, feeding grooves, which are disposed at equal intervals on the outer peripheral surface thereof, for receiving a pair of charcoal half rods, and a sealing sheet for covering part of the outer peripheral surface of the drum. The feeding groove is formed into a tunnel-shaped passage when the feeding groove passes through the sealing sheet as the drum rotates. Suction holes are provided at opposite ends of the feeding groove. The suction holes suck the air in the tunnel-shaped passage to move the paired charcoal half rods to the right and the left. Stopper rings are fixed to opposite end portions of the drum to stop the movement of the charcoal half rods. Thus, the charcoal half rods separated to right and left are aligned.

  • Patent number: 5566812
Abstract: A filter plug aligning device has an aligning drum having many feeding grooves on the outer peripheral surface thereof. As the drum rotates, each feeding groove receives a pair of charcoal tips and one plain plug while being separated from each other. On both sides of the feeding groove are formed leads, which extend along the feeding groove. Part of the outer peripheral surface of the aligning drum is covered by a sealing sheet, which forms the feeding groove into a tunnel-shaped passage. When the feeding groove which has received the tips and plug passes through the sealing seat, suction pressure is generated in the tunnel-shaped passage and air currents are generated in the leads of the passage. The suction pressure and air currents move the tips and plug in the feeding groove in one direction, and the movement of the tips and plug are stopped and aligned by a stopper ring fixed to the aligning drum.

  • Patent number: 5490526
Abstract: An apparatus has an inspection drum, suction grooves arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the inspection drum and adapted to receive and transport filter cigarettes as the inspection drum rotates, and pads arranged on the inspection drum so as to be situated on either side of the suction grooves. Each pad has a pad face opposed to its corresponding suction groove and an elastically deformable, ring-shaped bulging portion formed on the pad face. When a filter cigarette in the suction groove is transported to a predetermined position, the respective bulging portions of the paired pads on either side of the suction groove are pressed individually against the opposite ends of the filter cigarette, so that the bulging portions are elastically deformed to be brought into intimate contact with the end faces of the filter cigarette.
