  • Publication number: 20110122529
Abstract: A hub includes first and second side surfaces respectively opposed to inner and outer circumferential surfaces of an upper portion of a magnetic member, and a ceiling surface arranged to interconnect an upper ends of the first and second side surfaces. The adhesive agent is interposed between the inner circumferential surface of the upper portion of the magnetic member and the first side surface of the hub and between the upper surface of the magnetic member and the ceiling surface of the hub. Radial distance between the inner circumferential surface of the upper portion of the magnetic member and the first side surface of the hub and axial distance between the upper surface of the magnetic member and the ceiling surface of the hub are smaller than radial distance between the outer circumferential surface of the upper portion of the magnetic member and the second side surface of the hub.

  • Publication number: 20080278850
Abstract: When a sleeve of a fluid dynamic bearing is manufactured, its inner peripheral surface is formed by cutting. On the inner peripheral surface, first and second inclined surfaces are formed by a first cutting process such that a distance between the sleeve and a central axis is increased toward an upper end surface of the sleeve. Then, an upper bearing surface and a third inclined surface between the upper bearing surface and the first inclined surface are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the sleeve by a second cutting process of accuracy higher than that of the first cutting process. In the second cutting process, it is possible to form accurately in position a boundary between the upper bearing surface and the third inclined surface in contact with an upper end of an upper dynamic pressure groove provided on the upper bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 4883376
Abstract: A data processing apparatus provides excellent printing quality even though it employs an impact printer which is subject to mechanical vibrations during the typing operation. The apparatus comprises a highly rigid chassis frame for respectively supporting the printer and CRT in upper and lower portions of the frame and to withstand outside factors which adversely affect the printing quality. At the same time, inclination of the CRT is adjusted to provide the minimum size of the combined equipment and easy printing check within an area of an operator's eye sight. A shielding plate is also provided on the upper chassis to mount the printer and to prevent leaked magnetic flux from adversely affecting the CRT and printing quality.

  • Patent number: 4728208
Abstract: A ribbon lifting mechanism usable for a typewriter including a holder turnably supported in a frame, a motor driven ribbon lifting cam and at least a cam follower operatively connected to the holder. Printing ribbon and correction tape are accommodated in the holder and either of them is located at the printing position by means of the ribbon lifting cam which is formed with a plurality of cam sections. The cam follower is actuated in accordance with cam sections on the ribbon lifting cam. The mechanism further includes a stopper member which serves to locate the printing ribbon at the printing position while it is engaged to the holder. The stopper member also serves to locate the correction tape at the printing position while it is disengaged from the holder.

  • Patent number: 4613248
Abstract: A typewriter ribbon lifting mechanism includes a holder supporting a printing ribbon and a correction ribbon below the printing ribbon. The holder is vertically tiltable for lifting the printing or correction ribbon selectively from its inoperative position to its operative position. The holder is normally held in its lowered inoperative position. A cam follower is secured to the holder and supports an axially movable follower pin thereon. A ribbon lift cam is rotatable only in one direction to cause the cam follower to tilt the holder vertically. The cam has a first cam groove in which the follower pin is engageable to raise the holder to place the printing ribbon in its operative position, and a second cam groove in which the follower pin is engageable to raise the holder to place the correction ribbon in its operative position. The second cam groove has a portion which forms a part of the first cam groove, while the remaining portion of the second cam groove is greater in depth than the first cam groove.

  • Patent number: 4568208
Abstract: In a printer, a printing clutch and a hammer impact changeover mechanism are controlled through a control member by one electromagnet, in such a manner that in response to a printing signal the clutch is engaged through the control member by the electromagnet to start one printing cycle and, in the second half of the printing cycle, the electromagnet is operated to enable a hammer impact change-over mechanism with the aid of the control member. The energizing forces of two weak spring members are applied to a cam follower member operatively coupled to the printing hammer so that when a printing type element having a large printing surface is selected, the energizing forces of the two spring members are utilized to allow the printing hammer to strike the type element strongly, and when a type element having a small printing surface is selected, the energizing force of only one of the two spring member is utilized to allow the printing hammer to strike the type element less strongly.

  • Patent number: 4299503
Abstract: A character selection mechanism for a typewriter having a single type head with characters arranged in rows and columns thereon, which mechanism comprises, for either row selection and column selection similarly, a series of cams, a series of cam followers, a series of transmitting members, and an output member, as one set. The cams are fixed on a cam shaft which is rotated once in response to depressing of any one key. Each of the cam followers is rotated by each corresponding cam and is shifted, against a biasing force, by each corresponding transmitting member from a first position to a second position in response to depressing of the corresponding key. The cam follower engages the output member at the second position for controlling its operation based on the rotation of the cam shaft. The output member is connected to the type head via a connecting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4283150
Abstract: An electric typewriter having a prevention mechanism for preventing printing errors caused by a depression of a few keys in very rapid succession. The prevention mechanism includes a lock member for locking a clutch, which is interposed between a drive motor and a printing mechanism, in a disengaged condition. The lock member is normally held in a non-operational position for allowing the clutch to be engaged, and is moved in response to a special operation of a sensing member to an operational position for keeping the clutch in a disengaged condition. The sensing member is so disposed as to be moved in a distinct way different from the normal operation mode when a few keys have been depressed in very rapid succession.

  • Patent number: 4234262
Abstract: A single element print head having an apparatus for firmly and releasably attaching itself to the drive shaft of a typewriter. The body of the print head is provided with a central opening therethrough for receipt of the drive shaft. A cap is secured on the body around one end of the opening with the purpose of slidably holding a manual slide member in its guide recess and fixedly holding a base portion of a hair pin shaped spring in its holding groove. The spring has a pair of arms for firmly fastening therebetween, and for releasing the drive shaft by virtue of its resilience and the action of a pair of cam surfaces. The pair of cam surfaces are formed in the bottom portion of the slide member, diverging from one end to the other end like a front portion of a bullet, for expanding the arms from each other to release the arms from the drive shaft by means of the slide movement of the slide member.
