    Abstract: The cartridge-type HDD 200 to which the operation member 250 is attached is inserted into the slot 150. On this occasion, if in the first placement mode in which the head member 252 is situated on the rear side in the insertion direction of the cartridge-type HDD 200, the operation member 250 does not contact the switch 154. Accordingly, the cartridge-type HDD 200 is in the writable state. On the other hand, if in the second placement mode in which the head member 252 is situated on the front side in the insertion direction of the cartridge-type HDD 200, the operation member 250 presses the switch 154. Accordingly, the cartridge-type HDD 200 is in the write inhibit state.
