  • Publication number: 20080304231
Abstract: A portable computer having a decorative cover is disclosed. The portable computer includes a main housing and a display side housing. The display side housing is openably and closably attached to the main housing. Several apertures for forced air cooling are formed in a bottom and a side of the main housing. The decorative cover is configured to cover surfaces of the display side housing and the main housing. A tray having a flat plate member and a spacer are attached to the bottom of the main housing. The spacer is configured to secure a predetermined space between the flat plate member and the bottom of the main housing to form an air flow passage for allowing outside air to pass through the apertures. The spacer is arranged between the decorative cover and the bottom of the main housing.

  • Patent number: 7306467
Abstract: A PC card slot device for an ExpressCard affords a smooth insertion of the ExpressCard into a slot for the PC card slot device, without the height of the slot being increased. A lower chassis ceiling wall defines the lower face side of a card storage space, and also includes a slot side edge that is formed of a rear-side inclined line portion and a slot-side inclined line portion. The rear-side inclined line portion and the slot-side inclined line portion are respectively inclined at angles ?1 and ?2, relative to a reference cross section. To insert the ExpressCard into the slot of the card storage space, the right corner of the right upper level lower face portion of the card is inserted into the card storage space and the front end of the right stepped portion of the card is guided along the inclined line portions.

  • Patent number: 6939154
Abstract: A connector is provided to reduce the transmission of shock from a housing to a HD via a connector in a notebook computer when the housing is dropped or hits something. The connector has a lower connector portion that is fixed to a print-circuit board and a guide axis, and an upper connector portion that is positioned above the lower connector portion with a vertical gap between itself and the lower connector portion to be slidable along the guide axis. To and from the front side of the upper connector portion, the terminal pins of the HD are inserted and pulled out. Upper ends of electric connection pins for the upper and lower rows can be inserted into pin insertion holes on the upper connector portion to be connected to the terminals of the HD, middle portion of the connection pins have U-shaped resilient portions, and lower ends protrude downward to the lower connector portion and are connected to the wires of the print-circuit board.

  • Patent number: 6379111
Abstract: A ventilation fan for a PC has a plurality of blades disposed around a rotary hub. Each blade is shaped differently from the others to an extent that the air volume handling capacity of the blades is not substantially diminished. The noise level generated by a fan in a specific frequency range is caused by the change in air pressure and is attributable to the symmetry of the fan blade shapes. By altering the shape of the individual blades, the noise level due to pressure change is attenuated. Each blade slightly differs in shape from the others to eliminate air pressure changes. The noise level of the fan is suppressed within an allowable range even when the number of blades and the rotational speed of the fan are increased for better air flow. Preferably, the shape of each blade is varied from the others by putting an adhesive such as putty on the front surface and/or the back surface thereof near the hub.
