  • Publication number: 20030132927
Abstract: An actual concrete pixel structure of a top emission type display comprises a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix on a substrate. Each of the pixels includes a light emission device prepared by forming a transparent pixel electrode and a metal pixel electrode on both surfaces of a light emitting layer and a driving circuits for controlling the driving current of the light emission device. The driving circuit is formed on the substrate, and the light emission device is formed in a layer manner above the driving circuit with an intermediate layer made of an insulation material interposed therebetween. The transparent pixel electrode is situated on the side opposite to the substrate. The metal pixel electrode of the light emission device is connected with the driving circuit through a conduction portion which extends through the intermediate layer.

  • Patent number: 6583581
Abstract: An organic LED (OLED) display device and an operating method of driving the same. In an OLED image display device, one switch transistor is provided in one pixel. For at least a part of an OFF period of time of the switch transistor, the OLED is in the non-light emission state, and also the bias of the polarity reverse to that in the light emission is applied to the OLED.

  • Publication number: 20030111966
Abstract: As each of sampling switch elements turns on in response to a scanning signal, a signal voltage from a signal wire is held on and written into a sampling capacitor. At this time, the signal voltage is held on the sampling capacitor on the basis of a common electrode. As the scanning signal transitions from high level to low level, each of the sampling switch elements turns off and changes into a floating state in which the sampling capacitor is electrically insulated from the signal wire and a driving TFT. As the scanning signal changes from high level to low level, each of the driving switches becomes conductive so that the signal voltage held on the sampling capacitor is applied as it is between the source and gate of the driving TFT as a bias voltage to make the driving TFT conductive, causing an organic LED to emit light.

  • Publication number: 20020140641
Abstract: An emissive display using an organic electroluminescent device is provided, in which the pixel circuit is simplified, the aperture ratio is increased, high resolution is achieved, and the power consumption is reduced. In the configuration, among the two sets of inverter circuits, one set of inverter circuit is formed by a circuit connecting an organic electoluminescent device and a transistor in series, and a transistor of a memory circuit is omitted. Also, in the mutual connection of the two sets of inverters, display data is inputted to a line connected to the gate of the transistor connected in series with the organic electoluminescent device, and owing to this connection, the write load is reduced, and the high resolution is achieved by enabling to write at high speed.
