Patent number: 8354775Abstract: An ultrasonic transducer includes a case, a reflective portion, and a piezoelectric body. The case has a substantially cylindrical shape including one closed end in the center axis direction that defines a top. The piezoelectric body is disposed on the inner surface of the top of the case. The reflective portion is arranged to oppose and be spaced apart from the piezoelectric body. The distance between the piezoelectric body and the reflective portion is greater than the maximum displacement of the piezoelectric body and is substantially an odd number multiple of a ¼ wavelength of sound waves or less than or equal to the ¼ wavelength.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2010Date of Patent: January 15, 2013Assignee: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Junichi Nishie, Takaaki Asada, Mio Furuya, Takayuki Shimamoto, Kazuhiro Ebara

Patent number: 7737609Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor includes a cylindrical outer case with a bottom and a piezoelectric element fixed to the inner side of the bottom portion of the outer case. A ring-shaped inner case having a central hole extending in the axial direction in the central portion thereof is disposed inside the sidewall portion of the outer case. A flat or substantially flat portion is provided around the central hole of the inner case, and a viscoelastic filler is arranged so as to extend from the central hole to the flat or substantially flat portion of the inner case. A tabular member is disposed on the flat or substantially flat portion so as to face the flat or substantially flat portion with the filler interposed therebetween. When the inner case vibrates, shear deformation occurs in the filler interposed between the flat or substantially flat portion and the tabular member since the tabular member is not substantially deformed, and the vibration is reduced by the viscoelastic damping effect.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2009Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koji Murata, Masato Kotani, Takaaki Asada, Takayuki Shimamoto, Hiroyuki Hirano, Mio Furuya

Patent number: 7548014Abstract: An ultrasonic transducer includes a cylindrical cap member having a bottom. A piezoelectric element is bonded to the inner side of a bottom portion of the cap member using a conductive adhesive or other suitable adhesive. An inner frame made of a material having an acoustic impedance greater than that of the cap member is fitted into the cap member so as to be in contact with a side portion, including the end portion, of the cap member. Through-holes are provided in the side portion of the inner frame. Lead wires are connected to the piezoelectric element and the inner frame, respectively. A sound absorber and a damper are inserted into the inner frame. The damper is in direct contact with the side portion of the cap member via the through-holes of the inner frame.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2008Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takaaki Asada, Takayuki Shimamoto, Koji Murata, Mio Furuya

Patent number: 6634230Abstract: A vibrating gyroscope includes supporting members which are fixed in the vicinity of two node axes n1 and n2 of a bar-shaped vibrator. The supporting members corresponding to node axis n1 extend from the locations at which they are fixed to the vibrator in the widthwise direction of the vibrator, and also include bending portions and a proximity portion. The bending portions bend toward node axis n1. At the proximity portion, the supporting members are in close proximity with each other with a gap therebetween in the vicinity of node axis n1.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2002Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Isao Toyoshima, Akira Mori, Nobuyuki Ishitoko, Takayuki Shimamoto, Akira Kumada, Iku Nagai
