  • Publication number: 20130120690
Abstract: To reliably detecting cable connection errors such as a reverse insertion or an oblique insertion of a cable, an LED board and an LED driver circuit board are connected by an FFC, a voltage dividing resistor is mounted on the LED board. A connection detection section is connected to one end of the voltage dividing resistor via a first transmission line of the FFC, connected to another end of the voltage dividing resistor via a transmission line of the FFC, and connected to the dividing point of the voltage dividing resistor via a third transmission line of the FFC. At least the third transmission line is configured not to pass through a center of the FFC, or the resistance values of the resistor and the resistor are different. A connection state of the FFC based on a voltage of the dividing point is detected via the third transmission line.

  • Patent number: 8199281
Abstract: In a backlight of a liquid crystal display device, the screen of a liquid crystal panel is divided into a plurality of rectangular regions, an edge-light type light guide plate is provided corresponding to each of the rectangular regions, and a plurality of LEDs are provided on the end face of each edge-light type light guide plate. The brightness of the image displayed on each of the rectangular regions is obtained based on an image signal, and, based on the brightness, the brightness of the plurality of LEDs corresponding to each of the rectangular regions is controlled. Accordingly, the power consumption can be reduced as compared with the case where the entire liquid crystal panel is illuminated with uniform brightness. Furthermore, the edge-light type light guide plate is used to allow a decrease in number of the LEDs and the wiring arrangements.

  • Patent number: 8035605
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device is provided to reduce the edge-blurred influence of the liquid crystal response in accord with temperature dependency, comprising a temperature detector in an inverter circuit detecting the temperature of a liquid crystal display panel and outputting a temperature signal of the liquid crystal; a phase synchronous signal generator outputting the on/off timing signal of each fluorescent lamp in each luminescent region according to the vertical synchronizing signal of a display control device and the temperature signal from the temperature detector; a lamp drive controller in the inverter circuit determining to turn on/off the fluorescent lamp of each luminescent region in the backlight of the liquid crystal display panel with the timing signal. The turn-on signal of each fluorescent lamp is generated and subsequently delayed by the inverter circuit according to the liquid crystal response in accord with the temperature dependency in each luminescent region.
