  • Patent number: 8998805
Abstract: A laryngoscope is provided with which an operator can directly observe the trachea inlet portion of a patient easily by safely and surely lifting the epiglottis of the patient with a proximal end portion of a laryngoscope blade which is inserted in the mouth of the patient. The blade is connected to a distal end portion of a grippable handle, a first electrode is mounted on a distal end portion of the blade, and a second electrode is configured to adhere to a skin surface of the patient in the vicinity of the epiglottis, and a low frequency current is supplied to flow between the first electrode and the second electrode.

  • Patent number: 8465414
Abstract: A clean and inexpensive medical manipulator device can be provided in which a risk of failure caused by current leakage or disconnection is eliminated and reliability is higher than in a manipulator device using an electrically driven actuator or electric motor. The medical manipulator device includes a stage section 3 that can hold a medical instrument 2; a plurality of actuators 4 each linked at one end to the stage section 3; and a base section 5 linked to the other end of each of the plurality of actuators 4 and serving as a base for the plurality of actuators 4, wherein each of the actuators 4 causes the medical instrument 2 and the stage section 3 to displace with respect to the base section 5 by extending or contracting in the longitudinal direction of the actuator 4 in response to a pressure of a liquid 6.

  • Patent number: 8221481
Abstract: A brain cooling device is provided to cool the brain sufficiently to the subcortical tissue in a short time. The device includes a cuff (3) capable of storing therein a cooled fluid and placeable in the esophagus (H1) of the patient (H) when inserted orally or transnasally. A tube (2) extends from the cuff (3) for infusing the fluid into the cuff (3) placed in the esophagus (H1) from outside the body of the patient H and discharging the fluid from the cuff (3). The cuff (3) has flexibility so as to inflate or deflate in response to infusion or discharge of the fluid and is configured in such a manner that when the fluid is infused therein while placed in the esophagus (H1), the cuff (3) that has been inflated comes into close contact with the inner wall (H4) of the esophagus (H1).

  • Patent number: 7867198
Abstract: An object is to provide a medical liquid infusion apparatus suitable for a portable use and capable of suppressing an abrupt change in flow rate even when the environmental temperature rises. A medical liquid infusion apparatus 1 is provided with a driving portion 2 and configured to infuse a medical liquid inside a medical liquid container 3 to a patient by applying a pressure to the medical liquid container 3 using a driving force of the driving portion. The driving portion 2 includes a compressed gas cylinder 4 filled with a compressed gas, and it is configured in such a manner that the driving force is generated by the pressure inside the compressed gas cylinder 4.

  • Patent number: 6034693
Abstract: An image synthesizing apparatus, an image synthesizing method and an information storage medium which can realize the representation of the front and back sides of a primitive surface while decreasing processing load. Whether the front or back side of a polygon (primitive surface) is to be displayed on a screen is judged. When the front side of the polygon is to be displayed, a first texture is mapped (on the polygon). On the other hand, if the back side of the polygon is to be displayed, a second texture is mapped (on the polygon). Thus, a realistic representation can be accomplished without increasing processing load. Depending on whether the front or back side of the polygon is to be displayed, various image information such as color palette, vertex brightness information, normal vector information lighting model parameter information and transparency information may be varied.
