  • Patent number: 7101459
Abstract: A coated printing paper the product of whose basis weight, density, Young's modulus in the machine direction and breaking length in the machine direction is within the range of no less than 1.0×1021g2·N/m6 but not greater than 4.0×1021g2·N/m6, and which offers excellent pliability, superior print gloss in the image area regardless of lower white-paper gloss, minimal small-scale gloss variations in the image area, and excellent workability with the printing machinery, more particularly a matte coated paper, is provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 2001
Date of Patent: September 5, 2006
Assignee: Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

  • Patent number: 6918994
Abstract: Printing paper superior in a texture, a feel and ease in turning the page is provided by adjusting the product of the paper density, the breaking length of a paper-making direction and the Young's modulus of the paper-making direction of the paper made by a paper machine within the limits of no less than 2×1018 and no more than 10×1018 g·N/m4 by using the following means independently or in appropriate combination: a means of lowering paper density by increasing the compounding ratios of low-density pulp and low-density filler, using bulking chemicals or reducing press pressure during paper-making process, a means of lowering the paper breaking length of a paper-making direction by improving the compounding ratios of filler, and a means of lowering the Young's modulus of the paper by using a softening agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 2000
Date of Patent: July 19, 2005
Assignee: Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

  • Publication number: 20050150625
Abstract: A non-coated gravure printing paper offering good gravure printability—particularly as evidenced in the reduced generation of speckling, was obtained by improving the cushioning property of the paper and thus improving its adhesion with the photogravure cylinder—by means of adding a substance or substances, such as surface-active agents, which will inhibit the binding between pulp fibers in the paper and which, when added to an ideal level of 0.3 weight % of the bone-dry weight of pulp, will reduce the tensile strength of paper in the machine direction by 5 to 40% as measured in accordance with JIS P 8113, compared with the level when no such substance is added.

  • Publication number: 20030221210
Abstract: A method for introducing a gene into a plant, which comprises introducing a gene into a plant cell using a vector containing an adventitious shoot redifferentiation gene as a selectable marker gene under the control of a light-inducible promoter, and a vector for introducing a gene into a plant, which comprises a desired gene, an adventitious shoot redifferentiation gene as a selectable marker gene under the control of a light-inducible promoter, and a removable DNA element, wherein the selectable marker gene is positioned such that it behaves integrally with the removable DNA element, and wherein the desired gene is positioned such that it does not behave integrally with the removable DNA element.
