  • Patent number: 6504707
Abstract: To provide a portable computer in which a height and angle of a display can be adjusted even in a restricted installation space. In a notebook type personal computer, at an approximately middle portion in a high and low direction of an LCD unit, disposed in a lid, there is provided a hinge, which enables the LCD unit to pivot around a rotation axis crossing perpendicularly with the high and low direction of the LCD unit. This hinge is mounted so as to be movable in the high and low direction of the frame, and is disposed at a higher position than a top of the frame. Thereby, even when rear space where the notebook type PC is installed is restricted, it is possible to adjust the height and angle of the LCD unit, and to make such setting as to enable the display screen to be easily watched.

  • Patent number: 6493226
Abstract: A radiation structure is employed in electronic apparatus such as a laptop computer having a body containing a heat generating element (e.g. CPU) and a display, rotatably connected to the body. The radiation structure transfers heat from the CPU to the outside of the apparatus and includes a first heatpipe; a hinge member connected to the host heatpipe for receiving heat therefrom; a second heatpipe for transferring heat from the hinge member to a radiation member placed in the display, one end of the second heatpipe being arranged substantially coaxially with the center of rotation of the display; and a sleeve member arranged in the hinge member coaxially with respect to the center of rotation of the display, the sleeve member being inserted from the outside into the inside of the display together with a portion of the second heatpipe which projects from the hinge member.

  • Patent number: 6261715
Abstract: A battery attaching mechanism for a portable computer by which an accommodated battery can be safely stored and secured, yet easily removed. The battery attaching mechanism comprises a recessed battery compartment provided on the body of the portable electronic apparatus, a latching member for latching the battery pack, said latching member being provided on a side wall of said battery compartment and having an outer latching member surface, a locking member for inhibiting said latching member from being released by contact with said outer latching member surface of said latching member, a connector for receiving a connector of said battery pack, and a removal assisting section for, in the vicinity of said connector, pushing said accommodated battery pack away from said connector.

  • Patent number: 5666266
Abstract: An installation/removal structure for use with a generally rectangular peripheral device which may be temporarily installed within a portable data processing system. An engagement structure is provided within an interior portion of the portable data processing system and an electrical connector is mounted proximate to the engagement structure within the portable data processing system. An elongate flexible wire bail is swingably mounted across one end of the peripheral device, such that the elongate flexible wire bail can be engaged with the engagement structure by swinging the bail to a first position such that the peripheral device is held in electrical engagement with the electrical connector and when swung to a second position disengages from the engagement structure and may be utilized to remove the peripheral device from the portable data processing system.

  • Patent number: 5617291
Abstract: By the connection of a first subcard (26) to a main modem board (10), the modem system is customized to use an external data access arrangement (DAA) (32), while the connection of a second subcard (36) instead of the first customizes the modem system to use a built-in DAA (24). The subcards connect to the main modem board through a single interface connector (18). The first subcard includes a MiniDin connector (28) for connection to the external DAA, while the second subcard includes an RJ11 connector for direct connection to a telephone line. This mechanical arrangement results in a small, compact modem system suitable for use in a small computer.

  • Patent number: 5066770
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a polymer includes the first step of reacting a solution of one of two starting materials in an organic solvent with the other material in the form of a powder, and the second step of reacting a solution of the reaction product of the first step in an organic solvent with a solution of the other material in an organic solvent. The process preferably includes one or both of two additional steps, i.e. filtering the reaction product of the first step, and degassing the reaction product of the second step by stirring it at a reduced pressure. An apparatus for carrying out the process is also disclosed. This invention makes it possible to produce a polymer of high and uniform quality having a final viscosity controlled within a certain range and not containing foreign matter or bubbles.

  • Patent number: 5026820
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for continuously mixing two liquid components, whose one liquid component is a two-liquid curing type resin which comprises continuously supplying one liquid component under stirring into a mixing container and pouring the other liquid component into said container by pushing open a needle forcibly provided to a check valve, the improvement wherein said needle is pushed open with a non-curing liquid, thereafter, a curing liquid is poured into said mixing container. According to the present invention, when, for example, a polyamide acid and a curing agent are caused to mix and react with each other, a transparent polyimide mixed uniformly is obtained and high quality molded articles of polyimide are provided therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4832772
Abstract: There is provided a method for plastic film surface treatment for improving printability and adhesion properties which comprises feeding a plastic film and a wiping web in the opposite direction to each other in a ratio of the film running speed to the wiping web running speed being 1/1 to 100/1 and bringing them into contact with each other between knip rolls under a proper pressure, whereby a weak layer containing oligomers and additives is wiped off from the plastic film surface. The treatment improves the printability and adhesion of film inexpensively in a stable manner without being affected by the varied properties of film to be treated and also without deteriorating the physical properties of the film.
