  • Publication number: 20020021388
Abstract: A color filter substrate for use in a reflective liquid crystal display, and a reflective liquid crystal display using the above-described color filter substrate are provided. The color filter substrate is provided with a substrate, a reflective layer formed on the substrate, and a color filter layer formed on the reflective layer. The color substrate is arranged to oppose another substrate with a sealing material therebetween and a liquid crystal layer is filled in the gap between the two substrates. The color filter layer of the color filter substrate is formed in a region inside the sealing material, which includes at least an effective display area and a margin area which is outside the effective display area and yet part of visible area so as to reduce light reflected at the reflective layer. A reflective liquid crystal display using the above-described color filter substrate is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6057819
Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus is provided in which crosstalk (after-image extending from a line displayed on the screen) is eliminated. Drive circuitry used in the above type of apparatus is also provided. A delay circuit divides an alternating-current (AC) signal generated by an alternating-current (AC) signal circuit into two signals, i.e., a common AC signal (DF COM) and a segment AC signal (DF SEG). One signal is delayed later than the other. When the common AC signal is delayed later than the segment AC signal, white crosstalk (which is a white bar having a brightness level higher than a white background, appearing on the line extending from a narrow black bar displayed on the screen) is eliminated from the screen.

  • Patent number: 4617487
Abstract: An elastic surface wave element which has a grille-shaped electrode formed on a piezoelectric substrate is improved by having the grille-shaped electrode portion thereof covered with an insulating film made of tantalum pentoxide or silicon nitride. The insulating film functions to minimize the degradation of properties suffered by the conventional elastic surface wave element and preclude substantially completely the phenomenon of short-circuit between the electrode bars of the grille-shaped electrode.
