  • Patent number: 4413601
Abstract: A compensation value computing method for an electronic fuel injection controlled engine according to this invention measures an operating parameter for detecting the idling, low-load and high-load running conditions of the engine. First, second and third memory locations are provided corresponding, respectively, to these running conditions of the engine to compute feedback air-fuel ratios on the basis of feedback signals from an air-fuel ratio sensor. Values in the memory are compensated corresponding to the detected running conditions of the engine on the basis of the deviation of a feedback air-fuel ratio from the base air-fuel ratio.

  • Patent number: 4389996
Abstract: A method of electronically controlling fuel injection in an engine including a bypass line running in parallel to the portion of an intake passage in which a throttle valve is provided. The communicable cross sectional area of the bypass line is controlled so as to maintain the idling speed of an engine at a predetermined desired value. When the engine temperature is higher than a predetermined value, the engine is idling and the communicable cross sectional area of the bypass line is being controlled, a value is stored related to the mean value of the flow rate of intake air or the mean amount of fuel being injected into the engine. When the engine is later being started, when the engine temperature is lower than a predetermined value, or when the engine is accelerating while the engine temperature is yet lower than a predetermined value, the amount of fuel to be injected is calculated by using the value thus stored as a parameter to compensate for internal friction in the engine.

  • Patent number: 4389995
Abstract: In electronically controlling the amount of fuel passing through an electromagnetic valve into an intake system of an engine, the period during which fuel is injected is advanced at low engine temperatures as compared with the fuel injection period at high temperatures. As a result, a sufficiently long duration of time is created from fuel injection until burning, so that the fuel will be more completely atomized even at low engine temperatures, resulting in good fuel combustion.

  • Patent number: 4140611
Abstract: An oxygen sensor which comprising: a case having an inlet means and an outlet means through which gas passes. A sensor element is installed within the case, and an oxidation catalyzer is arranged upstream of said sensor element within said case. The inlet means or oxidation catalyzer is arranged so that a part of the gas which is introduced through the inlet means into the case flows without passing through the oxidation catalyzer while the other part of said gas passes through the oxidation catalyzer.

  • Patent number: 4119512
Abstract: An electrode structure for air-fuel ratio detecting, including a grate-like or perforated metal plate coated with a layer of alumina which is coated with a layer of platinum which is in electrical contact with a solid electrolyte which is formed for contacting both exhaust gases and the ambient atmosphere, so that when the platinum is exposed to engine exhaust gases catalytic action of the platinum lowers the oxygen partial pressure at the electrolyte surface to its equilibrium concentration causing an abrupt change in electromotive force detectible between a positive electrode in electrical contact with the solid electrolyte, and the grate electrode.

  • Patent number: 4102127
Abstract: Disclosed is a catalyzer heating device of an internal combustion engine. The glow plug is disposed in the catalyzer of the catalytic converter. The glow plug is operated when the temperature of the engine and the temperature of the catalyzer are relatively low so as to increase the temperature of the catalyzer for improving the exhaust gas purifying efficiency in the catalyzer.

  • Patent number: 4083183
Abstract: An internal combustion engine provided with an EFI (electronic fuel injection) system, in which the ratio of the amount of air introduced into the engine intake system to the amount of fuel supplied to the combustion chamber is controlled to a predetermined constant ratio irrespective of engine operating conditions, is disclosed. A part of the introduced air is diverted from the intake pipe in accordance with the engine operating condition, and is introduced into the exhaust system or re-introduced into the intake system of the engine when the engine is operating under particular conditions. Thus, a rich air-fuel mixture, which is, for example, suitable for a particular engine operating condition, can be supplied to the engine combustion chamber.
