  • Patent number: 6172783
Abstract: An optical bus for propagating signal light comprises a beam dividing portion consisting of a plurality of diffraction surfaces for diffracting signal light input from a signal light input portion and directing it toward a plurality of signal light output portions, which are arranged in a mosaic manner. A signal processor uses the above optical bus to carry out signal processing including the transmission and reception of a signal to improve optical energy use efficiency, thereby reducing power consumption and constructing a system having extendability.

  • Patent number: 5987198
Abstract: An optical bus production method for producing an optical bus having an improved transmission efficiency while preventing a data transmission failure. More specifically, the optical bus is produced by preparing first sheets that serve as a light transmission layer, a clad layer is formed on both front and rear sides of each of the first sheets and a second sheet is inserted, is prepared separately from the first sheet and serves as a clearance layer between the first sheets having the clad layer. The resulting optical bus includes a plurality of light transmission paths, each consisting of a light transmission layer and clad layers sandwiching the light transmission layer, and clearance layers for specifying the interval between the light transmission paths, each clearance layer being interposed between adjacent light transmission paths.

  • Patent number: 5895311
Abstract: An abrasive apparatus adopted to abrade a curved surface of workpiece includes: an abrading head including an abrading tip having a substantially spherical outer surface and a rotating shaft supporting the abrading tip, the abrading head being positioned to face the curved surface; a thrust moving mechanism for relatively moving the abrading head and the curved surface; a lateral moving mechanism for relatively moving the abrading head and the curved surface; a pivotal moving mechanism for relatively moving the abrading head and the curved surface pivotally around a center point; and a controller for controlling the abrading head, the thrust moving mechanism, the lateral moving mechanism and the pivotal moving mechanism synchronously so that the abrading tip contacts and presses the curved surface at any point thereon with a substantially constant pressure in a direction consistent with a normal line thereat.
