  • Patent number: 6081316
Abstract: A recorded image is distorted on a printing plate when an image information for a computer is recorded in the form of a band with a band width of a plurality of image elements on a printing plate wound around a drum. This invention provides an undistorted recording on the printing plate, made possible by an arrangement that has a printing plate wound around a drum in the form of a right circular cylinder, an exposure unit that uses a light beam to record image information in the form of a band on the printing plate, a moving mechanism to move the exposure unit by one band width in the direction of the drum axis in relation to the drum while the drum makes a revolution, an image treating apparatus with the image information stored in the form of a right quadrangle, and an image modulator to rearrange and slant each band of image information readout from said image treatment apparatus by one band width in the opposite direction to the movement of said moving mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4956044
Abstract: This tab surface-protective paper separating device is what removes from a tab stuck on the leading web end of a paper roll the protective paper which is attached to the outer surface of the tab except on portions along its edges; it is comprised of a table board upon which a leading web end with a tab stuck thereon is brought, a scraper which is designed to be moved transversely along the table top and is capable of being wedged into inadhesive peripheral points between the base tab and its protective paper, and a gripping claw for holding the protective paper between the scraper and itself in coordination with the wedging movement of the scraper. In seizing the protective paper between the scraper and the gripping claw, the device wedges the scraper between the tab and its protective paper with the help of ejection of compressed air. The protective paper is automatically removed from the tab as the scraper and the claw, both holding the protective paper therebetween, are moved away from the table board.

  • Patent number: 4830304
Abstract: The present invention relates to equipment used in a printing system for newsprint or the like, more specifically, to a device for successively rolling up unusable outer surface strips from paper rolls, compressing them, and then discharging them. The device comprises first and second conveyors which can be moved between a V-shaped position, wherein unusable paper is conveyed in a forward direction and rolled up into a cylindrical shape, and parallel positions, wherein the rolled-up, unusable paper is compressed flatly and discharged. A semi-arched guiding device disposed above the two conveyors cooperates with the conveyors to roll up the unusable paper into a cylindrical shape and one of the conveyors changes its conveying direction to switch from a rolling up mode to an ejection mode.

  • Patent number: 4821971
Abstract: A device for peeling and cutting off a surface portion (4c) of a paper roll (4) comprises a rotary support (1) that rotates the paper roll (4), a cutter guide (2) that reciprocally moves between positions for contacting and not contacting the paper roll surface portion, and a cutting device (3) that reciprocally moves parallel to a paper roll axis for cutting off the surface portion. In the contacting position, the cutter guide enters under the surface portion via a leading end (4a) of the paper roll when the paper roll is rotated and thereby forms a clearance under the surface portion. The cutter is inserted in the clearance and moves parallel to the paper roll axis to cut off only the surface portion of the paper roll along its entire width.

  • Patent number: 4812198
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device used in an automatic device for preparing paper rolls for web pasting, which is included in a printing system for newsprint and the like. The device automatically attaches one end of a tab, which has been prepared beforehand, to the outer surface of a web's leading end so that the web's leading end, which has been cut into a certain shape (for example, V-shaped), may be fastened to the outer surface of a paper roll on which the web is wound.A tab blank is formed basically by a rectangular support paper, which is provided with adhesive portion's on its upper and lower surfaces, and protective-coating films attached to both surfaces. An upper protective-coating film and the support paper, both of which form a portion of the tab blank, are divided transversely along a dividing line. The tab attaching device embodying the present invention is comprised of a tab loading device for keeping tab blanks in piles.

  • Patent number: 4685392
Abstract: A paper roll stand holds a paper roll in such a manner as to allow it to rotate in two opposite directions so as to temporarily locate a leading web end on a table board. An arm assembly positioned above the table board is movable in the lengthwise and lateral directions. The arm assembly includes a suction cup device for lifting up the outermost web of the paper roll, a cutter device for cutting the paper web, and a tape-attaching device for adhesively attaching web pasting adhesive tapes to the web's leading end. A device for adhesively attaching a head of a web end-fastening strip to an inner side of the web's leading end is located below the web. A paper roll-pressing device for adhesively fastening a tail of the web end-fastening strip to the outer surface of the roll is also included. A new paper roll prepared for web pasting according to the present invention is brought to the paper roll stand of a printing unit and rotatably held thereon.
