Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a power transmission mechanism for a hybrid type fly-wheel vehicle, in which a fly-wheel is rotated by a drive shaft of an internal combustion engine, and, when the numbers of revolution of the fly-wheel reaches a predetermined value, the internal combustion engine is maintained in its idling state, whereby the propeller shaft is now rotated by the fly-wheel. When the numbers of revolution of the fly-wheel reduces, it is detected to drive the internal combustion engine to again increase the numbers of revolution of the fly-wheel.Transmission and non-transmission of power between the abovementioned drive shaft and fly-wheel are effected through a clutch mechanism which connects and disconnects in accordance with the numbers of revolution of the internal combustion engine.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method for starting a pump, wherein when a pump runner effects the idle running in a runner chamber which is filled with compressed air, a water-pumping-up starting instruction is given, then a drain valve is first closed according to the water-pumping-up starting instruction, the aforesaid drain valve being provided in a draft tube for discharging pressurized water from a runner band chamber of the runner chamber; then compressed air in the runner chamber is discharged therefrom; subequently water is charged into the runner chamber; and after water pressure at the adjacent portion of the runner periphery in the runner chamber has been raised to a given level, a by-pass valve and a main valve in a discharge tube and guide vanes are sequentially opened; and a device for automatically substantiating the method.

Abstract: A device whereby water leaking through the guide vanes while the water-wheel is in spinning reserve can be drained through leak drain pipes which open in the fixed member near the outer periphery of the runner.

Abstract: A hydraulic machine, such as a reversible pump-turbine, is provided with an automatic air vent valve disposed in the casing area and a conduit having a valve for providing direct fluid communication between the casing area and the draft tube, in addition to compressed air means for depressing the water level within the draft tube below the runner, when the guide vanes are closed so that the runner may be rotated substantially only within air.
