  • Patent number: 4770772
Abstract: Apparatus has a rotary drum provided with a heating jacket therearound. The drum is mounted on a base pivotally supported on a pedestal. The base can be caused to take different orientations so as to enable the drum to take different attitudes. While the drum is in a vertical position, a mixture of fine particles and a liquid is supplied into the drum through a supply passage formed axially in a rotary shaft which extends into the drum rotatably and axially slidably relative to the drum. The mixture is filtered through a filter disposed in the drum. Filter liquid is discharged to the outside. The particles are prevented from passing through the filter and remain in the drum. Thereafter, the particles are heated and dried by a heating jacket on the drum while the drum is caused to assume a horizontal position and being rotated. The drum is then inclined such that the initially upwardly directed end thereof is directed obliquely downward.

  • Patent number: 4307199
Abstract: A process for manufacturing heat-insulating firebricks wherein an alumina cement, a water-soluble styrene maleic resin and water are added to a mixture containing a refractory aggregate, an inorganic binder and a granular foamed polystyrene, the resultant mixture being then kneaded and cast in a mold. The added amounts of alumina cement and water-soluble styrene maleic resin are small and water is added to an extent of not more than 50% by weight. The alumina content in the alumina cement is between 8 and 75% by weight.

  • Patent number: 4282173
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a refractory erial having numerous through pores in a certain direction. The refractory material is manufactured by covering a woven fabric composed of combustible weft and/or warp threads with a slurry of a refractory material, and then drying and baking the coated fabric to burn out the combustible yarns so that the desired through pores may be obtained in directions corresponding to the direction of the burned out weft and warp threads.
