  • Patent number: 4418377
Abstract: A meter has a polarizing filter so that only light having a substantially horizontal wave motion is emitted therefrom. The meter is positioned beneath a canopy which prevents light from impinging on the vehicle windshield so that polarized light impinges on the side window where reflection thereof is attenuated due to the angle of incidence thereof. A non reflective surface is located adjacent the side window which adds to the attenuation of the reflected light.

  • Patent number: 4413798
Abstract: An automotive vehicle part and fitting structure therefore includes a cover for covering a fastener such as screw so that the sharp end of the fastener does not damage the lining or insulation of electric wiring of the vehicle. The cover is rotatably attached to the vehicle parts and is movable during installation of the part onto the vehicle panel in order to permit the part to be attached to the vehicle panel. The cover mainly comprises two plain sections connected with each other at a right angle, one of which is positioned over the top of fastener to serve as a cover and the other of which engages part of the vehicle panel so as to hold the cover in position covering the end of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4405887
Abstract: A drive circuit for a wiper device includes reversible driving motors for alternately driving a pair of wiper assemblies in first and second directions. Each driving circuit includes a switching means and a means for detecting both ends of the wiper blade motions in the first and second directions. The switching means is operative to switch the direction of electric current supplied to an electric motor when the detecting means detects the end of wiper blade motion. Each driving circuit is connected to both of switching means so that it can reverse the current supplied to the driving motor when both of switching means detect the ends of the wiper assembly motion.

  • Patent number: 4385804
Abstract: A mirror which utilizes a transparent synthetic resin such as a polymethyl methacrylate resin in place of glass and is suitable, e.g., as an automobile inside rearview mirror. The back side of the resin plate is coated with a reflective metal film by vacuum deposition, and at least the front side of the resin plate is coated with a surface-hardening film, which is inevitably somewhat permeable to humidity. To prevent warping of the resin plate resulting from its moisture absorption and swelling only in its front region, the reflective film and a back-coat layer covering this film are both made permeable to humidity substantially equally to the surface-hardening film. Preferred material for the reflective film is a Sn--Cu--Cr ternary alloy having high reflectivity and excellent resistance to moisture.

  • Patent number: 4320554
Abstract: An outside mirror with a wiper is disclosed. The outside mirror includes a mirror drive motor and a wiper drive motor for a wiper. The wiper drive motor is mounted for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the mirror drive motor. The wiper is spring biased against the mirror to follow the movement thereof. As the mirror pivots about a vertical axis, a wiper guide urges the drive motor to pivot correspondingly so that the wiper follows the mirror surface. As the mirror pivots about a horizontal axis, the spring biased wiper follows the mirror to maintain the proper wiping contact with the mirror.
