  • Patent number: 4324419
Abstract: A latch device for a runner member used in a passive seat belt system includes a longitudinally extending guide member, a runner member movably mounted on the guide member and having an engaging portion and webbing attached thereto, a driving member for moving the runner member between a passenger restraining position and a passenger releasing position, and a latch member movably mounted on a base member between an engaging position in which the latch member is engageable with the engaging portion of the runner member and a non-engaging position. The latch member is biased toward the engaging position. A cam member is fixed to the driving member, and a slide member, which connects the runner member with the driving member, is slidable relative to the driving member within a predetermined range. The cam member moves the latch member into the non-engaging position when the runner member is about to leave the passenger restraining position together with the driving member.

  • Patent number: 4288097
Abstract: In a seat belt device including at least a belt for constraining the upper half of the body of a seat occupant, the shoulder belt, when in occupant constraining position, is guided so as to prevent the end portion of the belt adjacent to the shoulder of the occupant from bearing against the neck or the head of the occupant.

  • Patent number: 4232433
Abstract: A seat belt buckle device having a latch device comprising a base, a latch member pivotally supported on the base and having a latching portion for locking a tongue, the latch member being biased into a tongue locking position, a push button adapted, when operated, to bring the latch member into an unlocking position, and a cover having an inlet port for inserting the tongue therethrough and an opening for operating the push button therethrough. The latch member is pivotally supported on a supporting bed secured to the base. The latch device further comprises means for holding the latch member in its unlocking position when the latch member is brought from its tongue locking position to its unlocking position by the push button, whereby the latch member is held in the unlocking position until the latch member is brought back to its tongue locking position after the tongue is again inserted in the inlet port.

  • Patent number: 4190213
Abstract: A safety belt take-up device provided with a double sensing type emergency-lock mechanism comprises webbing draw acceleration sensing means, vehicle acceleration sensing means, first transmission means and lock means. The webbing draw acceleration sensing means may shift from a first position to a second position when a webbing is drawn out at an acceleration greater than a predetermined value. The vehicle acceleration sensing means may shift from a first position to a second position when the vehicle acceleration has exceeded a predetermined value. The first transmission means is connectible to a take-up spindle along with the shift from the first position to the second position of the webbing draw acceleration sensing means and/or the vehicle acceleration sensing means and adapted to shift from a first position to a second position due to the webbing draw-out force. The lock means may prevent the draw-out of the webbing when the first transmission means has shifted to its second position.

  • Patent number: 4181832
Abstract: A buckle apparatus for safety belt assembly, comprises a tongue member provided on opposed side edges with notches, a base plate member having a portion where said tongue member is inserted and being formed on the opposed sides thereof with guide grooves substantially perpendicular to the direction of the tongue insertion, a tongue latching means including a pair of tongue latching members, the tongue latching members being slidable along the respective guide grooves of the base plate member in a direction to substantially perpendicular to the direction of the tongue insertion, means for biasing said tongue latching members so that the tongue latching members may engage the respective notches of the tongue member, when the tongue member is inserted into the base plate member, to latch the tongue member, and operable means including cam portions for moving said tongue latching members against the force of said biasing means to unlatch the tongue member.

  • Patent number: 4103845
Abstract: In a safety belt retractor using a spring force to take up webbing, a take-up force eliminator comprises a ratchet wheel rotatable with a webbing take-up spindle after a delay corresponding to a predetermined angle, rotating means adapted to follow the rotation of the take-up spindle to assume a first and a second position, cam means adapted to stepwisely advance with the displacement of the rotating means from the first position to the second position and to assume a first and a second operative position in accordance with the stepwisely advanced positions, and locking means adapted to follow the cam means to engage the ratchet wheel when the cam means is in the first operative position, thereby locking the take-up spindle against rotation in the take-up direction, and to be disengaged from the ratchet wheel when the cam means is in the second operative position.
