    Abstract: In order to simplify prevention of unauthorized or malicious electronic mail transmission, a mail server comprises a password conversion table which shows registered correlation among user ID, a formal password, and a virtual password different from the formal password, both assigned to each user for user authentication by a general-purpose mail server. A user is informed of only a virtual password. When electronic mail having a virtual password and addressed to an outsider of a company is sent from a client PC, a password conversion processor converts the virtual password into a corresponding formal password with reference to the password conversion table, and the virtual SMTP server function processor sends the electronic mail now having the formal password to the general-purpose mail server. A user at a client PC cannot access the general-purpose mail server using a virtual password as the user is not authenticated using the virtual password.

    Abstract: To deal with user network communication activity which cannot easily and clearly be determined as problematic behavior, a behavior analysis apparatus 14 monitors communication between each user PC 16 in a domain 10 and Internet 20 via a gateway apparatus 12. For example, when there is a monitored item related to information leakage of the user in the detected communication, a weight value corresponding to the monitored item is added to a score concerning a possibility of the user leaking information. Subsequently, the scores are totaled and recorded for each unit of time. The behavior analysis apparatus 14 inputs data of time-series transition of the total value to a neural network which has performed learning for prediction processing, and predicts the possibility of the user's information leak at a time in the near future. When an increasing risk of leakage is predicted, the behavior analysis apparatus 14 communicates an alarm to a security manager.

When a backup client (BC) (14) of a user PC receives a backup instruction for a file from a user, the backup client (14) requests backup to a backup control server (20). The backup control server (20) divides and encrypts the file to be backed up into a plurality of encrypted pieces, transfers the encrypted pieces to user PCs (10), and stores the encrypted piece in the HDDs (12) of the user PCs (10). When the destributively backed up file is to be extracted, the user PC 10 obtains each encrypted piece from the user PCs 10 on which they are stored, and combines and decrypts the encrypted pieces to restore the original file.

    Abstract: A system is provided for improving security during data transfer. A transmitter side transfer controller (12) divides data to be transferred into a plurality of pieces, removes a portion of data from each piece and encrypts the piece, and uploads each encrypted piece to different relay servers (22) on the Internet (20). The transmitter side transfer controller (12) also provides a receiver side transfer controller (12) information indicating which piece is uploaded to which relay server (22) using a secure communication protocol. The data of the fragment removed from each piece is transmitted to the receiver side transfer controller (12) separately from the encrypted pieces. The receiver side transfer controller (12) downloads the encrypted pieces each uploaded to the relay server (22), decodes the encrypted pieces, complements the decoded data with the data of the fragment to restore the state before the removal, and assembles the restored pieces to obtain the original data to be transferred.
