  • Patent number: 6398955
Abstract: A blood filter (1) has a small priming volume and a high ability of trapping and removing the air bubbles. The blood filter (1) according to the present invention includes a housing (5) accommodating a blood inlet (8), a blood outlet (9), an air bubble outlet (14), and a filter element (3) disposed in the housing (5). The blood inlet (8) is preferably disposed in the vicinity of a bottom surface (7) of the housing. The housing (5) includes a spiral chamber (10) defined between an inner wall (5b) and an outer wall (5a) of the housing (5) and a center chamber (11) defined within the inner wall (5b). The spiral chamber (10) extends in a helix shape to surround the center chamber (11). Due to such a structure, even when air bubbles are introduced to the blood filter (1) through the blood inlet (8), the air bubbles are effectively separated from the blood in the spiral chamber (10). The blood filter having such a spiral chamber (10) is unlikely influenced by the blood flow rate and the amount of air bubbles.

  • Patent number: 5808989
Abstract: In the beginning of a reproducing operation of information data from a first layer of a disk in an optical disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus, an optimizing operation of a servo control for an optical pick-up through which the information data are reproduced from the first layer is initially performed. Thereafter, the information data read from the first layer are temporarily stored in a DRAM at a first data rate, and the information data are read out from the DRAM to an external apparatus at a second data rate lower than the first data rate. Therefore, a volume of the information data in the DRAM increases in the reproducing operation. When the volume of the information data reaches an upper limit of the DRAM, the optical pick-up is set to a standby condition to stop the reading of the information data from the first layer, and optimizing operations for another or other layers of the disk are performed.

  • Patent number: 5676526
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bubble elimination method in a medical centrifugal pump wherein a blood outlet 18 is directed upward so that a vertical line X passing through the enter point O of centrifugal pump main body 12 is positioned between two straight lines .alpha.,.beta. which respectively pass through center point O and a point A and center point O and a point B, points A and B lying on the circumference of centrifugal chamber 15 where its periphery connects with blood outlet 18, and a blood inlet 17 is directed upward at an angle which is larger than the angle which is formed between the axis and the inner peripheral surface of centrifuge chamber 15, blood outlet 18 and blood inlet 17 being supported in these states by a drive portion 13 of the centrifugal pump main body 12. After filling the centrifuge chamber with blood and liquid filling, the processes of low speed drive, drive halt and high speed drive are sequentially carried out to rotating body 23.

  • Patent number: 5147187
Abstract: An extracorporeal blood pump which comprises a pump housing having a pump chamber defined therein, and a rotary vane assembly accommodated within the pump chamber and including a substantially conical rotary pedestal having a base surface and a conical surface, a plurality of vanes each having radially inner and outer ends, and a driven shaft connected at one end with the base surface of the pedestal. The vanes are mounted on the conical surface so as to extend radially outwardly from an axis of rotation of the pedestal with the radially inner ends of the respective vanes being spaced a predetermined equal distance from an apex of the conical surface while substantially depicting a circle coaxial with the axis of rotation of the pedestal. Each neighboring members of the vanes are equally spaced from each other in a direction circumferentially of the pedestal.

  • Patent number: 4064420
Abstract: A control system for a compressor driven by a pole-changing motor comprises a pole changer for the motor, a contactor for stopping the motor for a predetermined time in case of the pole changing, and a switch responsive to the variation in a physical quantity which occurs in the compressor every time when the latter is stopped, whereby the motor is stopped in case of the pole changing and then is started again in response to the actuation of the switch. This control system is especially adapted for use in a pole-changing-motor-driven compressor used in a refrigeration cycle of an air conditioner.
