  • Publication number: 20020155841
Abstract: In a mobile communication network, a mobile terminal is set in one of a number of user-defined response modes. The information indicating the set response mode is stored in a status memory, and the stored information is transmitted to the calling user of an incoming call addressed to the mobile terminal from the network. The status memory is preferably located in the network to respond to the incoming call by the network, or may be located in the mobile terminal to respond to the incoming call by the mobile terminal. Preferably, verification is provided for the calling user prior to responding to the incoming call. A field strength or signal-to-noise ratio detector may be provided to communicate the field strength or SNR value of the channel established by the mobile terminal. The calling user is informed of such channel quality information to determine the best communication mode.

  • Patent number: 5666282
Abstract: A programmable controller has a programmable controller unit and a peripheral device which facilitates defining and managing set values of both the internal devices of the programmable controller and the upper and lower limit values by allowing the programmable controller unit and the peripheral device to store set values as reference values for judging the magnitudes of current values of information and updating these values under the control of a sequence program. Further, the programmable controller and peripheral device facilitate the consecutive display, real-time display, etc. of the contents of internal devices by displaying sequentially the contents of these internal devices at predetermined intervals under the control of a sequence program. Additionally this invention allows numerically represented character information stored in internal devices of a programmable controller to be displayed in the form of characters by a simple peripheral device.

  • Patent number: 5535114
Abstract: A power converter including a snubber circuit which is smaller and regenerates more energy than a conventional snubber circuit. A plurality of self-quenching semiconductor switching elements are connected in series across a power supply. A capacitive element is connected to the switching elements, and is charged to more than the voltage of the power supply by a snubber action due to operation of any of the switching elements. The charge stored in the capacitive element is then regenerated to the power supply. The capacitance of the capacitive element can be almost as small as a minimum required capacitance, and can be as small as one-tenth of the capacitance required in a conventional snubber circuit, thereby providing a power converter which is smaller and has a smaller snubber loss than a conventional power converter.

  • Patent number: 5379127
Abstract: A device for recording and retrieving images corresponding to a plurality of documents is based on an apparatus which generates images which respectively correspond to a plurality of original documents, rotates those images to provide a more meaningful image for the user, and records those images on a recording medium. The image corresponding to each document which is scanned subsequent to the first document is rotated based on whether the image corresponding to the first document is rotated or not. A comparison between a pixel count on the image corresponding to the first document may be compared with a pixel count corresponding to each subsequently generated image to determine whether such rotation should be performed. Original documents are scanned in the sub-scanning direction and rotated after scanning to increase scanning speed. Retrieval data for each image is stored for retrieval purposes.
