  • Patent number: 6234917
Abstract: A golf ball that plural kinds of dimples are disposed on a spherical face, and a great circle zone not including even a part of the dimples are formed on the spherical face. An imaginary great circle line is drawn on the great circle zone, and two intersections of the spherical face and a straight line, which is at right angles with a circular plane of which circumference is the imaginary great circle line, and goes through the center of the golf ball, are poles. And, in a ball hemispherical face of which border is the imaginary great circle line, when the spherical face is equally divided with imaginary arc lines which start from the pole and are at right angles with the imaginary great circle line, dimple dispositions of adjacent divided areas sharing an imaginary arc line are not line-symmetric with respect to the imaginary arc line, and the dimple dispositions of the divided areas are rotation-symmetric with respect to the straight line.

  • Patent number: 6193920
Abstract: A golf ball having a cover thickness of 3.0 to 5.0 mm is produced by a process which includes providing a core; covering the core with a cover composition to form a first cover layer having a thickness of 30 to 70% of a total cover thickness; and further covering the first cover layer with the same cover composition to form a second cover layer having a thickness sufficient to form the total cover thickness.

  • Patent number: 6059671
Abstract: A golf ball has plural dimples on its surface. Each dimple has a dimple deepest portion not corresponding to a center of the dimple as viewed in radial direction toward a center of the golf ball. A cross acute angle, between, a straight line which goes through the dimple deepest portion and the center of the dimple, and a great circle zone which goes through poles and the center of the dimple, is arranged to be -85.degree. to 85.degree.. The dimple deepest portion is positioned nearer to a seam than the center of the dimple and the depth of the dimple diminishes gradually and monotonically from the deepest portion to a radially outer portion.

  • Patent number: 6004226
Abstract: A solid golf ball having good shot fee, high spin amount and excellent durability and having an intermediate layer formed on the core, and a cover covering the intermediate layer, wherein the cover has a Shore D hardness of 40 to 55, the core has a diameter of 31 to 36 mm and a JIS-C hardness of 60 to 85, the intermediate layer has a lower JIS-C hardness than that of the core by 5 to 25, and the average specific gravity of the core and the intermediate layer is within the range of from not less than 1.0 to less than 1.3. The intermediate layer and the core are formed from a vulcanized molded rubber composition comprising a base rubber, a metal salt of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, an organic peroxide and a filler.

  • Patent number: 5957784
Abstract: A multi piece solid golf ball comprising:a core (1),at least one intermediate layer (2) formed on the core (1) anda cover (3) covering the intermediate layer (2) consists essentially of (I) 100 to 10% by weight of a polyurthane thermoplastic elastomer and (ii) o to 90% by weight of an ionomer of ethylene-(meth) acrylic acid copolymer and having a flexural modiolus of 500 to 5,000 Kgf/cm.sup.2, and the cover (3) is formed from an ionomer resin of ethylene-(meth)acrylic copolymer and has a shore D hardness of 50 to 75 and the core (1) has a press deformation of 3.0 to 6.0 mm, the press deformation being obtained by applying an initial load of 10 Kg on the core to measure a deformation of core (Xmm) and then applying a final load of 130 Kg on the core to measure a deformation of core (Ymm), followed by calculating (Y-X)mm, which is the press deformation.

  • Patent number: 5776012
Abstract: A solid golf ball comprising a core and a cover wherein the core has a diameter of not more than 36.7 mm and a hardness (JIS-C hardness) in a range from 65.5 to 72 from a center to an outer surface thereof. The core is formed from a vulcanized molded material of a rubber composition comprising a base rubber, a metal salt of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, an organic peroxide, an organosulfur compound and/or metal-containing organosulfur compound and a filler. A difference between the hardness (JIS-C hardness) at the center of the core and that at any part from the center to the outer surface of the core is not greater than 5. The cover has a specific gravity of less than 1.2, a thickness of 3 to 5 mm and a hardness (Shore-D scale hardness) of 60 to 70.
