  • Patent number: 5997032
Abstract: A seat with a side air bag for a motor vehicle is provided with an air bag module that includes an inflator and an air bag, and is incorporated in a seat back portion of the seat. The air bag is inflated to fill a space between an occupant and a side wall of the vehicle. The seat further includes a first skin member covering each side face of the seat back portion, and a second skin member covering a front face of the seat back portion. The second skin member is sewed to one end of the first skin member. A reinforcing member is provided on at least a part of a rear surface of the first skin member, for controlling a direction in which the air bag expands out of the seat back portion.

  • Patent number: 4286804
Abstract: A seat-belt system for a vehicle, automatically restraining and releasing the driver or a passenger in response to the closing and opening of the door, respectively, which system comprises a hip belt with one end thereof connected to a hip-belt anchor fixed near the center side of the seat and the other end wound around a hip-belt retractor fixed to the lower rear of the door through a run-through member slidably guided on the door, a shoulder belt with one end thereof connected to a shoulder-belt anchor slidably guided along a roof rail above the seat and other end wound around a shoulder-belt retractor fixed near the center side of the seat, and a driving mechanism adapted to function on sensing the closing and opening of the door so as to move the run-through member and the shoulder-belt anchor to the restraining and non-restraining position, respectively, whereby the seat-belt system securely holds the driver or the passenger in position when the door is closed and releases him or her from the seat to get

  • Patent number: 4264089
Abstract: A seat belt mechanism comprising a first through member attached to a sash of a door, a second through member supported in the door, a shoulder belt inserted through the first through member and a waist belt inserted through the second through member, respective one ends of the belts being reeled into a retractor, while respective other ends of the belts being held by a belt hold member fixed to a vehicle body or a seat. The second through member is moved upwardly and downwardly in a guide provided in the door by an actuator device depending on opening the closing of the door, so that a passenger can easily get into out of the vehicle without having unpleasant feelings.

  • Patent number: 4241886
Abstract: A retractor device for a seat belt mechanism, comprising a ratchet wheel mounted on a reel shaft for reeling a seat belt, a pawl engageable with the ratchet wheel, a belt stop member disposed opposite to an abutment surface on a casing, guide slots in the casing and emergency operating means sensible to an emergency condition of a vehicle. Said means is operable to engage the pawl with the ratchet wheel to prevent rotation of the shaft and to move the stop member along the slots in a direction of drawing of the belt to clamp the latter between the stop member and the abutment surface, thereby preventing the drawing of the belt due to tightening thereof.

  • Patent number: 4220353
Abstract: A supporting device for a seat belt, comprising a seat belt support member attached to a sash of a door of a vehicle, a striker provided on the sash and projecting in a direction of the width of the vehicle and a recess provided on a pillar of the vehicle. The striker enters into the recess when the door is closed, and is detained by the recess to prevent the forward movement of the support member when the seat belt is strongly pulled forwardly and the sash is deformed.

  • Patent number: 4211431
Abstract: An actuator device for a seat belt mechanism, comprising a rack slidable in a door or a body of a vehicle, a link connecting the rack with the body or door, a seat belt support member interlocked with the rack to move a seat belt into a restraining position and an unrestraining position with respect to a passenger, and a resilient member provided in the door or body. The resilient member operatively engages with the rack or link to counteract a movement of the rack and link relative to the door or body, thereby retaining the door in a given open position.

  • Patent number: 4143911
Abstract: In a front seat of an automobile having a seat back tiltable with respect to the seat cushion, a seat walk-in device, which moves interlockingly with the tilting of the seat cushion, is interposed between a stationary rail fixed on the automobile's floor and a sliding rail fixed under the seat cushion. To provide adequate space for entering or leaving the rear-seat space, the front seat is moved toward the front of the automobile by tilting the seat back forward. On completion of the entering or leaving, the front seat is moved backward after returning the seat back to an upright position. Then, the seat walk-in device automatically locks the front seat in a predetermined position.
