  • Publication number: 20040099756
Abstract: Sealing structure has a friction disk having a spindle-form boss portion, a cover member, and a seal member, in a lever-drag type dual-bearing reel. Cover member has a through-hole situated encompassing the boss portion, and is a component that is rotatable relative to friction disk. The seal member, which is a component made of an elastic substance, is for sealing a clearance between the boss portion and the cover member, and has an cylindrical portion made of an elastic substance and mountable on the boss portion, and a sealing portion formed integrally on the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical portion and tapering toward the through-hole. A distal edge of the sealing portion is for contacting a contact surface in through-hole. The present invention provides a structure for sealing a spindle-form first member and, disposed about the outer periphery thereof, a second member, to seal while controlling impairment in rotational performance, without having to use components or space for fastening.

  • Publication number: 20040035968
Abstract: An oscillating mechanism is for reciprocating a spool in a spool shaft direction in cooperation with rotation of a handle. The oscillating mechanism includes a slider member, a gear member, and a guide shaft. The slider member is mounted at least axially immovably to a spool shaft, on the fore end of which the spool is mounted. The gear member reciprocates the slider member in the shaft axial direction in cooperation with rotation of the handle. The guide shaft is supported at two locations of its outer circumferential surface with the reel unit, has an annular groove to which a retainer can be attached for preventing disengagement of the guide shaft in one axial direction, and guides the slider member in a direction substantially parallel to the spool shaft. In this way, structure for retaining a guide shaft is simplified and design constraint alleviated.

  • Patent number: 6651916
Abstract: Spinning-reel bail-tripping mechanism is a device for returning bail arm from line-releasing posture to line-retrieving posture as rotor rotates in line-retrieving direction. Bail-tripping mechanism includes shifting member that shifts front-to-rear as bail arm pivots; toggle-spring mechanism that urges and toggles bail arm to between the two postures; switching portion, and restraining mechanism. Switching portion comes into contact with the rear end of shifting member and shifts shifting member toward a first position. Restraining means restrains bail arm from returning into line-retrieving posture when bail arm is in line-releasing posture. Restraining means also releases restraint before the rear end of shifting member reaches the peak edge of first inclined face of switching portion as rotor rotates in line-retrieving direction while bail arm is in line-releasing posture.

  • Patent number: 6412720
Abstract: A double-drag type lever-drag mechanism for a double-bearing trolling reel. The drag mechanism is configured to improve overall reel braking and drag performance by securing the brake release state reliably and by a design that curbs increase in spool inertia and provides for ease of operation and precision in attaching the drag cover. The lever drag mechanism 7 brakes the spool 3 rotation in the line spool-out direction, and is equipped with a brake disk 25 non-rotatably fitted to one end of the spool such to be axially shiftable a predetermined distance. Sandwiching the brake disk 25 between friction disk 26, immobilized against axially outward movement, and axially shiftable friction disk 27 rotates the drag/brake disks 25-27 unitarily with the spool 3. Against the spool 3 a coil spring 28 urges the brake disk 25 away from the spool 3. A shifting mechanism 29 reciprocates the spool 3 and drag/brake disks 25-27 axially.
