  • Patent number: 10031274
Abstract: A light guide plate includes a diffusing surface that diffuses incident light having a concave cylindrical surface shape with curvature in a first direction, and an exit surface having a convex cylindrical surface shape with curvature in the first direction. The light guide plate is constituted such that a pattern provided behind the diffusing surface is visible from the exit surface side. The light guide plate has an incident surface on at least one end of the light guide plate in the first direction, and prisms that are formed in the diffusing surface and reflect visible light from a light source that enters the light guide plate from the incident surface toward the exit surface. Each prism has a reflecting surface oriented toward the incident surface side, and an angle between the reflecting surface and the diffusing surface increases, the further the prism is from the incident surface.

  • Patent number: 7796786
Abstract: To prevent detection of facial images for whom detection is unnecessary, without reducing the detection ratio of registered players from facial images. An image acquisition unit acquires an image taken by a camera, and provides the image to a masking process unit. The masking process unit reads a masking pattern that has already been adjusted by a masking pattern adjustment unit and a movable masking area setting unit so that characteristic quantities of a facial image that does not need to be recognized as a facial image cannot be detected, from a masking pattern recording unit. A masking process is applied to the image provided, and the masked image is provided to a facial image extraction unit. The facial image extraction unit extracts a rectangular shaped facial image, and provides the facial image to a transmission unit. The transmission unit transmits the rectangular facial image provided to a face recognition server.

  • Publication number: 20070253603
Abstract: A camera that picks up images for the purpose of extracting facial images can be adjusted on the basis of images. The facial image extraction section extracts a facial image of a checking target person from an image that is picked up by the entrance camera and the facial detection judgment section judges whether a facial image can be extracted, by the facial image extraction section, from the image under predetermined conditions. In cases where, in accordance with the judgment result, a facial image cannot be extracted, by the processing of the facial image extraction section, from the image under predetermined conditions, the camera control section controls the image pickup state of the entrance camera. The present invention can be applied to a monitoring system.

  • Patent number: 6729376
Abstract: A sheet sorting apparatus which easily sorts sheets into groups, and makes these groups readily distinguishable on a single output tray. According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided a sheet sorting apparatus located at the sheet outlet location of an image processing device, the sheet sorting apparatus including a marker attaching mechanism for attaching markers at a certain position on the output sheets. The marker attaching mechanism includes a tape feeding device in which the tape has an adhesive surface along one side edge, a cutter for making a marker by cutting the tape at a preset length, guides for positioning the marker in the proper location on the output sheet, a marker attaching roller, and a feeder for feeding the sheet and marker together. The feeder presses the marker against the sheet to attach it. The advantages of the invention include the markers for separating the groups being attached to the sheets, so they will not fall out if the sheets are removed from the output tray.

  • Patent number: 6516180
Abstract: An image forming apparatus such as a printer and a copier has rotating devices such as a drum and a press roller to print an image on a paper sheet while rotating and a paper-transporting mechanism having guide rollers and timing rollers for transporting a paper sheet to these rotary devices, controlled by a control device such that irregularities in the printed images due to fluctuations in the speed of transportation of the paper sheets. The guide rollers may be operated to transport the paper sheet at a faster speed than the paper sheet is transported by the rotary devices such that the paper sheet becomes bent before being delivered to the rotary devices to be printed on. The control may be such that the guide rollers transport the paper sheet while the timing rollers downstream is released from the transportation of paper sheets. The control device may also operate so as to stop the guide rollers when the paper sheet comes to a position where the rotary devices can start transporting it.

  • Patent number: 6394447
Abstract: A sheet inversion device for inverting a sheet that is fed in and for feeding out the inverted sheet has intermediate rollers, feed-in rollers, feed-out rollers, inversion rollers, and pressing guide members. The feed-in rollers are positioned on one side of the intermediate rollers to feed a sheet. The feed-out rollers are located on the other side of the intermediate rollers to feed the sheet. The inversion rollers are located to the rear in the feed-in direction upon the receipt of the force produced by the advance of a sheet slip across the sheet while rotating in the feed-out direction. The pressing guide members exert, with the inversion rollers, a sheet pressing force to counter the force transmitted by the sheet. In the sheet inversion device, the pressing faces of the pressing guide members have the same arced shape as have the outer circumferential faces of the inversion rollers.

  • Patent number: 6155563
Abstract: A sheet sorter includes an array of a plurality of sorting trays which are mounted on a sorter body and arranged in a vertical direction and a general-purpose tray which is mounted on the sorter body and is larger than each of the sorting trays in capacity so that it accommodates a larger number of sheets than each of the sorting trays. A tray drive mechanism provided in the sorter body moves up and down the sorting trays and the general-purpose tray so that sheets transferred by a transfer mechanism provided in the sorter body are selectively discharged onto the sorting trays or the general-purpose tray. The array of the sorting trays is positioned above the general-purpose tray. The sorting tray array and the general-purpose tray are normally held in a position where the sheet discharge port of the sheet transfer mechanism is positioned between the lowermost tray of the sorting tray array and the general-purpose tray as seen in a vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 5975521
Abstract: A sheet discharging apparatus includes a conveyor provided at one side of the body of the apparatus, and sorter trays and a large capacity tray provided on the opposing side. Wings are provided each rotatable about a rotation axis, on a discharging side of the conveyor, and a projection is formed in the front side in the sheet conveying direction of each wing. The projection is brought into contact with an urging member provided at a frame of the container which is movable in upward/downward directions. When sorter trays are used, the urging member is separate from the projection, so that upper surface of the wing is below a conveying surface. When the frame and urging member are elevated to use the large capacity tray, the urging member presses the projection upward, and hence wings are elevated to be positioned upper than the conveying surface.
