Abstract: A radiating member (2) of the present invention comprises a plurality of first wall (2a), and a second wall (2b) connected to the first wall (2a) and formed substantially at right angles to the first wall (2a), which are alternately and continuously formed. The first wall (2a) are arranged substantially perpendicular to the surface (1d) of a laminated cell (1) such that they are not collapsed by loads applied from the top and bottom surfaces of the laminated cells (1). The second wall (2b) make up a flat plane substantially parallel with the surface (1d) in order to gain a heat transfer area and uniformly apply the loads to the laminated cell (1). To ensure a largest possible area for the second wall (2b), R-sections (2c), which connects the second wall (2b) with the first wall (2a), are formed to have a smallest possible radius.

Abstract: An information retrieval apparatus includes an input unit from which information-retrieval information is input, database interfaces that can access databases, a display unit for displaying, in the form of a bar, information that is obtained by the access, a central processing unit (CPU) that can move a cursor for designating a position in the lengthwise direction of the information bar and that uses a database interface to retrieve, from the databases, information corresponding to the lengthwise position designated by the cursor. The information retrieved by the CPU is displayed on the display unit, and data can be retrieved without the user performing an input operation by using a keyboard or the like.

Abstract: An information processing method and apparatus, wherein drawing information including at least one object that can be displayed, information pertinent to the size in the line direction and in the line feed direction of the object, and layout-related information are analyzed. Coordinate information pertinent to a display start position of the object in a drawing area is acquired based on a result of the analysis, the coordinate information pertinent to the display start position is converted based on the layout-related information acquired by the results of analysis, and the converted coordinate information pertinent to the display start position is converted into real drawing coordinate information on the drawing area.

Abstract: An optical pickup device according to the present invention is constituted so that a laser beam emitted from a light receiving and emitting integral-type element is transmitted or reflected by a beam splitter, transformed to a parallel beam by a collimator lens, introduced into an objective lens, transmitted through the objective lens, and collected on a recording surface of an optical disc and the laser beam thus collected is returned to the light receiving and emitting integral-type element via a reverse path after the laser beam is reflected by the recording surface of the optical disc. The optical pickup device includes a front monitor light receiving element that is arranged between the light receiving and emitting integral-type element and the collimator lens, receives a part of the laser beam emitted from the light receiving and emitting element, and detects a quantity of the received laser beam.

Abstract: Data for an electronic book is to be formulated readily. Such data for the electronic book, supplied by a publishing company, is data by variable formats, and hence are converted by an XML converter 21 into data of the XML format. A data converter 22 converts the data of the XML format, obtained by conversion by the XML converter 21, into data of the type that may be distributed to the user, while adding data designed for facilitating the handling as the electronic book. A copyright protection processing unit 23 adds the copyright information to the formulated data and encrypts the data as necessary. A distributing unit 24 holds the data for distribution and distributes the data it holds responsive to a user's request. An apparatus for formulating data for an electronic book is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention is intended to display page space layout images substantially similar to the page space images of actual newspapers and magazines and, on the basis of these images, display news items having legible character size. Display blocks for displaying images based on the electronic information having the image information of a page space having a plurality of news items and the news-item contents information associated with each news item and operation means such as a jog lever are arranged. Page space images of a newspaper for example are displayed on these display block and news-item markers corresponding to news items are displayed. When the news-item marker corresponding to a desired news item is selected, an image of the news-item contents information associated with the news-item indicated by the displayed news-item marker is displayed on the display block.

Abstract: A user terminal has two screen. One screen displays content in a state intended by the creator of the content. The displayed content is composed of a plurality of bocks, and each block can be enlarged. Content corresponding to a block for which enlargement is directed is displayed on the other screen. The content displayed in the other screen has an enlarged form. Regarding the enlargement, rules are set. For example, an image or the like is processed so as to be enlarged without changing vertical and horizontal ratios cannot be changed. The present invention is applied to a device that handles electronic books.

Abstract: An information processing method and apparatus are disclosed. The drawing information including at least the information including at least one object that can be displayed, the information pertinent to the size in the line direction and in the line feed direction of the object, and the layout-related information, is analyzed, the coordinate information pertinent to a display start position of the object in a drawing area is acquired based on the analyzed result, the coordinate information pertinent to the display start position is converted based on the layout-related information acquired by the results of analysis and the converted coordinate information pertinent to the display start position is converted into the real drawing coordinate information on the drawing area.

Abstract: A plurality of distributed power generation systems are connected via the Internet to a managing apparatus in a managing company. A power company communicates with the managing apparatus via another line. At peak times of power consumption in the midsummer and so forth, the power company requests the managing company to supply the power. The managing company controls to remotely set generation capacity of the distributed generation systems at maximum so as to reverse surplus power therefrom to a power system. A normal power rate is discounted for a user of the distributed generation system for his/her cooperation with the power company. The managing company charges the power company based on the surplus electric energy supplied to the power company.

The tape-advancing mechanism comprises a driving force-converting device for converting a driving force received from the driving member to a driving force for use in tape-advancing motion of the tape-advancing mechanism, such that speed of the tape-advancing motion is varied as the tape-advancing mechanism is driven by the driving member.

Abstract: A carrier tape for carrying electronic components thereon forward to a sucking position is formed therein with a plurality of recesses for accommodating the electronic components, respectively, and advanced intermittently with the electronic components contained in the recesses. A suppressor is arranged at a location backward of the sucking position for preventing the electronic components from jumping out of the recesses. A shutter is arranged for sliding contact with the carrier tape such that the shutter is capable of being moved forward and backward along length of the carrier tape to open and close each of the recesses in the sucking position. The shutter has a forward end portion larger in width than a width of the each of the recesses and is formed by a plate spring extending obliquely toward the carrier tape for suppressing the carrier tape.

Abstract: An absorption refrigeration system having a generator, a rectifier, a condenser, an evaporator, an absorber and heat exchangers which are connected by means of conduits in an airtight manner so that circulations for refrigerant and for absorbent solution are formed, wherein the rectifier is mounted upright above the generator, and wherein a receiver for receiving absorbent containing refrigerant is mounted below the rectifier and communicates with the lower portion of the generator through an absorbent passage means, whereby decreasing hindrance of the generation of the refrigerant vapor from the generator, thus increasing the efficiency in generating vapor and, at the same time, preventing local overheating of the solution in the generator.

Abstract: A composition for use in an absorption refrigeration system which comprises at least one refrigerant of a fluorinated alcohol having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, being a liquid at ordinary room temperature, and being vaporizable under normal atmospheric or reduced pressure when heated, and at least one absorbent having a higher boiling point at normal atmospheric pressure than the refrigerant and being capable of absorbing the refrigerant, and an absorption refrigeration system wherein said composition is used.
