  • Patent number: 5771061
Abstract: An image forming apparatus, such as a copying machine or a printer having a two-beam optical scanning unit, includes a pair of semiconductor laser beam emitters, each emitter generating a respective laser beam. A beam composition prism composes the two laser beams and a photoreceptor is provided for holding an image written with the two laser beams. A defector deflects the two laser beams onto the photoreceptor in a primary scanning direction so that the two laser beams are emitted on a primary scanning plane. Two supporting members each respectively supports one of the pair of semiconductor laser beam emitters. A moving member is provided for moving at least one of the two supporting members so that at least one of the two laser beams is movably adjusted so as to have a predetermined emitting direction.

  • Patent number: 5202736
Abstract: Image recording equipment capable of selectively discharging sheets each carrying an image thereon to either one of the operating side or front of the equipment where the operator is expected to stand or to the opposite side or rear, depending on the number of sheets to be discharged to a tray. When a tray provided on the rear of the equipment is selected, the tray loaded with discharged sheets is moved to the front of the equipment and then automatically returned to the original position after the sheets have been removed by the operator.

  • Patent number: 5055878
Abstract: The image forming apparatus is arranged accurately to keep a constant distance between the surface of the photosensitive element and a charging device. The charging device is composed as a part of an integrated unit with another device which is located around the surface of the photosensitive element. When the unit is mounted on the main body of the apparatus, the charging device is in contact with a positioning means which is provided on the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4943128
Abstract: A mirror surface for deflecting an incident light beam is inclined to the axis of rotation and rotated for scanning the light beam. The incident light beam is applied to the mirror surface along the axis of rotation, and a reflected light beam is continuously deflected by the rotating mirror surface to scan a surface. When the incident light beam has an elliptical cross section in a direction normal to its optical axis, the cross-sectional shape of the reflected light beam varies due to the inclination of the mirror surface in response to rotation of the mirror surface. The varying shape of the reflected light beam obstructs proper reading and writing of an image with a light scanning device employing the above mirror surface. To avoid this problem, light beam shapers are provided in positions before and after the light beam is reflected by the mirror surface.

  • Patent number: 4869582
Abstract: An optical apparatus in which optical devices are abutted against reference planes for positioning secured in the housing case of an optical system, and the housing cover is put on said housing case. On the inside surface of the housing cover a rib is provided to restrict the movement of the optical devices with the cover securely put on the housing case.
