  • Patent number: 7218953
Abstract: An infrared communication adapter which can carry out a data exchange with an external equipment having an infrared communication interface even though a portable telephone does not have an infrared communication function. The adapter includes a portable telephone side connecting section for transmitting a serial data supplied from the portable telephone by connecting an external communication interface of the portable telephone; an infrared communication interface for carrying out a data communication with the external equipment in accordance with the infrared communication protocol. The adapter analyzes a communication protocol of the communication interface disposed on the data supply side and carries out an RS232C emulation internally to transmit the data by converting the analyzed communication protocol into a communication protocol corresponding to a communication interface disposed on the data receive side.

  • Patent number: 6876354
Abstract: A key-board type input mechanism suitable for inputting large quantity of data is provided to a portable information technology device having a pen-input type display device. A keyboard (33 or 35) of the present invention comprises a key top panel portion (12 or 17) on which a plurality of input key portions (12a or 18) that are pressed down when carrying out a key input are integrally formed, a coordinate position information generating portion (13) and contact portions (16 or 19) for changing loads generated by pressing each input key portion of the key top panel portion down into a vertical load, a load distribution portion (14 or 20) for distributing unnecessary loads other than the vertical load changed by the coordinate position information generating portion and the contact portions, by deformation under a pressure. The key top panel portion, coordinate position information generating portion, contact portion, and load distribution portion are layered.

  • Patent number: 6008965
Abstract: A disk drive includes a casing for enclosing at least a disk and a head. Rectification walls are disposed at corners of the casing. The walls serve to rectify an air stream generated by rotation of the disk at the periphery of the rotating disk. A bypass is defined between the side wall of the casing and at least one rectification wall. A filter is disposed in the bypass for catching dust in the air stream. A parameter d/L, where d is the width of an entrance of the bypass and L is the length of the comer along the periphery of the disk, is determined so that vibration of the rotating disk is equal to or less than an admissible value estimated from a tracking error margin. The tracking error margin is estimated from a track pitch on the disk. Reliable positioning of the head with respect to the disk can be achieved with the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5874901
Abstract: A display device of electronic equipment comprises a display portion attached to a movable unit having a light incident surface through which light enters and a tip end surface for emitting light which enters through the light incident surface. Light emitting elements (and a prism) are mounted on a body unit for emitting light toward the rear end surface of the display portion in a state where the movable unit is mounted on the body unit. The tip end surface of the display portion is exposed on the surface of the movable unit, whereby the tip end surface is lighted when the emitting elements or the prism emits light toward the rear end surface of the display portion, thereby displaying a state of the electronic equipment.

  • Patent number: 5714665
Abstract: A method for continuously decomposing ozone layer-depleting substances which comprises adding air serving as a photolytic reaction promoter to at least one member selected from the group consisting of CFCs, HCFCs, halons and halogen-containing organic solvents, subjecting the resultant mixture to irradiation with UV light, and separating the resultant solid product and the resultant halogen product from each other to render the at least one member harmless is described. The method comprises providing a refrigeration medium comprising a lubricating oil and the at least one member, separating the lubricating oil from the at least one member under normal temperature and normal pressure conditions, separating moisture to a full extent from a mixture consisting of the at least one member and air, and subjecting the mixture to photolytic reaction by irradiation with UV light, and separating and collecting the resultant halogen compound from the photolytic reaction product.

  • Patent number: 5400195
Abstract: A magnetic disk apparatus including magnetic disks and a magnetic head assembly for access to the magnetic disks. The magnetic head assembly includes a head carriage having a hub and integral head arms, magnetic heads being carried by the head arms. A flexible printed circuit is attached to the side surface of the head carriage via a double sided pressure sensitive adhesive tape which provides a layer of elastomeric material to mitigate a deformation of the head carriage relative to the flexible printed circuit and the bearings supporting the head carriage to improve the off-track of the magnetic disks.

  • Patent number: 4935830
Abstract: A magnetic disk storage device having a magnetic shield for shielding a magnetic servo-head from noise generated by an adjacent data-head during a write operation when both magnetic heads are arranged back-to-back in a space between two magnetic disks stacked co-axially. The shield plate is secured to an inner surface of a base portion of a housing of the device, thus avoiding an increase in the weight and moment of inertia of moving members of a head positioner.
