  • Patent number: 5650237
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium is disclosed, which contains a substrate, an uneven layer and a metallic magnetic layer provided on the substrate in that order, wherein the uneven layer is made of an Al--M (wherein M is a metal capable of forming a carbide) and has an uneven surface. This magnetic recording medium enables a magnetic head to float at a low height, and prevents the magnetic head from sticking to the magnetic recording medium. Further, the uneven layer has an excellent adhesivity to the substrate preventing it from peeling off the substrate, and thus a magnetic recording medium having an appropriate surface roughness and excellent durability is provided. This magnetic recording medium can cope with high density recordings.

  • Patent number: 5246249
Abstract: In an air bag unit, which comprises a retainer (6), an inflator (7, 15, 20, or 22) blowing gas from L blowing holes (7a) at the collision of the vehicle, and an air bag (8) inflated and developed by the gas thus blown out, said inflator (7, 15, 20, or 22) is provided with a mounting member (7d), which comprises an opposed wall (7b) placed face-to-face to the blowing holes (7a) and a mount (7c) with said retainer (6), and the mounting member (7d) and the retainer (6) are connected by connection members (9, 16, 18, 21, or 24) with the mounting end (8a) of said air bag (8) squeezed between said mounting member (7d) and said retainer (6). Because the inflator (7, 15, 20, or 22) itself is provided with an opposed wall (7b) placed face-to-face to the blowing holes (7a) and the mount (7c) with the retainer (6), there is no need to furnish special mounting member such as ring member used in the conventional type air bag unit.

  • Patent number: 5140799
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of folding away an air bag installed in front of the front passenger seat of an automobile. The bag has outwardly swelling longer side portions. The method is initiated by folding the longer side portions inwardly of the air bag to straighten both sides of the bag. The width of the shorter side portions perpendicular to the longer side portions is made slightly less than the width of an air bag case. Then, the bag is folded in alternate directions into zig-zag shape to create folds at right angles to the straightened sides. The folded bag is inserted into the case.

  • Patent number: 5074585
Abstract: In the air bag according to the present invention, pouches 1g are furnished at least along a part of an opening 1d to introduce reaction gas from an inflator, and band-like ring member 1e' mounted on car body and having the plane in the direction approximately perpendicular to the cross-section of the opening 1d is inserted into the pouches 1g.Therefore, the plane of the band-like ring member 1e' runs approximately in parallel to the direction of the introduced reaction gas, and the band-like ring member 1e' is not enlarged in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the introduced reaction gas. As the result, the module can be designed in smaller size. Also, by furnishing the pouches 1g on the periphery of the opening and by inserting the band-like ring member 1e' into the pouches 1g, the number of the base cloths of the air bag can be reduced by one cloth.
