  • Publication number: 20060137187
Abstract: In a reciprocation type electric shaver having an outside blade unit detachable from a main body, the outside blade unit comprises a main blade, a slit blade and an outside blade holder for holding the main blade and the slit blade capable of floating up and down. A coupling structure for coupling the slit blade on the outside blade holder has a retaining structure for engaging the slit blade and the outside blade holder in a lateral direction of the outside blade unit so as to prevent disengagement of the slit blade from the outside blade holder when the slit blade is floated up and down with inclination. The retaining structure is a pair of fitting recesses formed on the slit blade and a pair of fitting protrusions formed on the outside blade holder.

  • Patent number: 7020966
Abstract: A dry shaver has a cradle head carrying shaving units as well as a motor for driving the shaving units. The cradle head is supported to a hand grip such that it is allowed to tilt about at least one tilt axis parallel to a thickness direction of the hand grip. At least one portion of the motor projects upwardly of the tilt axis, whereby the cradle head is given overall mass center which is located upwardly of the tilt axis with respect to the height axis of the hand grip. Accordingly, the motor of heavy nature can be best utilized to locate the overall mass center of the cradle head above the tilt axis for generating a torque acting to tilt the cradle head from a neutral position about the tilt axis when the hand grip is held upright.

  • Publication number: 20060021227
Abstract: A reciprocatory dry shaver capable of driving an inner cutter smoothly along an arcuately curved outer cutter for efficient shaving. The dry shaver includes a shaving head carrying an outer cutter which is arcuately curved along its length, and an inner cutter driven to reciprocate along the length of the outer cutter. An actuator is mounted in the shaving head for driving the inner cutter. The actuator includes an oscillator which reciprocates in the lengthwise direction of the outer cutter and carries a joint for driving connection to the inner cutter. Also included in the actuator is a resilient coupling link which supports the oscillator to the shaving head in order to allow the oscillator to reciprocate relative to the shaving head. The resilient coupling link has its one end coupled to the oscillator and the other end anchored to the shaving head at a portion away from the inner cutter than the oscillator.

  • Publication number: 20060021228
Abstract: A dry shaver includes a hand grip and a shaving head supported to the grip. The shaving head carries a foil cutter unit composed of an outer foil and an inner cutter driven to move relative to the outer foil in hair shearing engagement therewith. The outer foil is elongated to have a length and a width, and is arcuately curved along its length. The shaving head is movably supported to the grip so as to be tiltable about a transverse axis parallel to the width of the outer foil. Thus, when the shaving head is pressed against the skin as being inclined, the shaving head is allowed to tilt in a direction of reducing a contact pressure which would otherwise be greater at one longitudinal end than at the other longitudinal end. Therefore, the shaving head can be free from undue dragging at either of the longitudinal ends of the outer foil to be thereby guided smoothly across the skin surface for efficient and comfortable shaving.

  • Publication number: 20050274019
Abstract: A shaving head for a dry shaver is capable of increasing the cutting efficiency, yet allowing the use of the inner cutter of simple structure. The shaving head has a slit cutter unit composed of an outer cutter shaped to have a top surface for contact with a user's skin, and an inner cutter in contact with a bottom surface of the outer cutter. The outer cutter has a U-shaped structure with a pair of legs connected by a crossbar, and to have a plurality of slits which are spaced in a lengthwise axis of the outer cutter to leave a plurality of bridges each between the adjacent ones of the slits. The slits extend continuously over a full width of the crossbar and into upper ends of the legs in a direction generally perpendicular to the lengthwise axis, giving two straight slit paths respectively on opposite width ends of the outer cutter. The straight slit paths on the opposite width ends are staggered with respect to each other along the lengthwise axis.

  • Publication number: 20050138821
Abstract: A dry shaver with a swingable shaving head which is capable of following a user's skin smoothly while keeping an optimum pressing relation with the skin. The shaver includes a grip and a shaving head mounted on top of the grip. The shaving head has a cutting face on its top and has a pair of support points through which the shaving head is supported to the grip. A linkage mechanism is provided to couple the shaving head to the grip for allowing the shaving head to swing relative to the grip. The linkage mechanism includes a pair of cranks each connected at its one end to each one of the support points and connected at the other end to each one of the anchor points on the side of the grip. A frame projects on top of the grip in an overlapping relation with the shaving head to give the anchor points which are positioned upwardly of the support points with respect to a height axis of the grip for suspending the shaving head on top of the grip by the frame.

  • Patent number: 6568083
Abstract: A dry shaver is capable of being depressed equally at different positions but with differing contact pressures between outer and inner cutters. The shaver has a housing having a motor and inner and outer cutters at its upper end. The inner cutter is driven by the motor to move in shearing engagement with the outer cutter for shaving hairs. The inner cutter is urged upwardly by a bias spring to develop a contact pressure against the outer cutter. The outer cutter is carried by a cutter holder movably supported to a head frame mounted on top of the housing. The shaver has a height adjust mechanism for adjusting the height of the head frame relative to the housing between a high position and a low position while compressing the spring differently to vary the contact pressure, and for allowing the cutter holder to be depressed relative to the head frame from each of the height and low positions.

  • Patent number: 5921134
Abstract: A vibratory linear actuator employs a reciprocating type motor for reciprocatingly driving several movable components at the same frequency and in opposite phase relations with each other. Both movable components are mechanically connected so as to transmit vibration from one to the other by reversing the direction of the vibration thereof. By this arrangement, the opposite phase relation between both movable components is mechanically insured. As a result, since the opposite phase relation between movable components can be maintained even when an external disturbance is applied thereto, the whole vibration system is stable against external disturbances.
