  • Patent number: 7105608
Abstract: The present invention provides a new copolymer of propylene and a conjugated diene having a carbon-carbon double bond in a side chain, wherein a molar ratio of a total of 1,2-adducts and 3,4-adducts to 1,4-adducts, derived from the conjugated diene, is 100:0. The copolymer is prepared in a process, characterized in that propylene and the conjugated diene are copolymerized in the presence of hydrogen, an organometallic compound comprising a transition metal selected from the group 4 of the periodic table, and at least one Lewis acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 17, 2004
Date of Patent: September 12, 2006

  • Patent number: 6787617
Abstract: A process for preparing olefinic living polymers having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 1 to 1.3, comprising polymerizing an olefinic monomer having 2 to 20 carbon atoms at low temperatures in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a hafnium or zirconium-containing compound having one or two cyclopentadienyl backbones, (B) a triphenyl boron compound or a tetraphenyl borate compound and optionally (C) a specific mono-, di- or trialkylaluminum compound. When the catalyst comprising the zirconium-containing compound is prepared by further using a titanium-containing compound (D), the polymerization temperature can be raised.

  • Patent number: 5548045
Abstract: A process for producing a polybutadiene, which comprises polymerizing 1,3-butadiene in an inert organic solvent with a catalyst comprising (A) a cobalt compound, (B) an organoaluminum compound consisting essentially of an aluminoxane and, if necessary, (C) a tertiary phosphine compound, (D) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an ester compound, an alcohol compound, a phenolic compound, a sulfoxide compound, a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound, water and a tertiary amine compound and (E) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of carbon disulfide, a xanthogen compound and a thioisocyanide. By this process, there can be produced, as desired, a cis-1,4-polybutadiene, a 1,2-polybutadiene having a desired vinyl content, a crystalline 1,2-polybutadiene or a polybutadiene containing crystalline 1,2-polybutadiene segments.
