  • Patent number: 7537717
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a two-layer roll having a foamed elastic layer provided on a core, and an elastic layer provided on the foamed elastic layer includes the steps of forming the elastic layer by use of a cylindrical mold holding a first cylindrical member used to form the outer cylindrical surface of the elastic layer, the first cylindrical member being manufactured by means of machining a solid member; forming a solid primary layer on the core by means of side extrusion; setting the formed elastic layer and the core having the solid primary layer formed thereon in a second cylindrical member of a foaming mold; and foaming the solid primary layer into the foamed elastic layer to form the two-layer roll having the formed elastic layer and the elastic layer.

  • Publication number: 20060176045
Abstract: A plasma reactor is provided which does not require a high power supply voltage and can form a plasma with a necessary and sufficient average current density over the whole region between a pair of electrodes to efficiently modify a gas flowing between the electrodes. The plasma reactor comprises first and second electrodes positioned to face each other, a dielectric material placed between the two electrodes and an electrical power supply for applying an alternating or pulsed current to the two electrodes and generating a plasma in the gas passing through the gap between the two electrodes to thereby modify the gas. By setting the average current density Ird of the plasma generated in the gap so that it satisfies the formula 10?4 A/cm2?Ird?10?1 A/cm2, a concentrated discharge and a barrier discharge are simultaneously generated, thus forming a plasma having a sufficient average current density Ird for the efficient modification of the gas over the whole region of the gap.

  • Patent number: 6774335
Abstract: This invention provides a plasma reactor for modifying gas by plasma, including a first planar electrode and a second planar electrode, the two electrodes facing opposite each other approximately in parallel; a dielectric body inserted between the first and the second electrodes; and a complex barrier discharge-generating way for providing a predetermined electric potential difference between the first and the second electrodes; wherein the first and the second electrodes are provided so as to apply complex plasma discharge to the gas to be treated fed between the electrodes, to thereby modify the gas. According to the invention, gas modification efficiency can be remarkably improved.

  • Patent number: 5804149
Abstract: Gas-cleaning equipment is disclosed, which comprises a housing having an intake vent and an exhaust vent and having disposed between the two vents a fan having at least one rotating blade. Air pollutant-removing system using the gas-cleaning equipment is also disclosed. This gas-cleaning equipment can effectively clean a gas through the action of plasma produced by glow discharge caused by rotation of said fan. When a metal layer having a catalytic activity is fixed onto the surface of said rotating blade, this metal layer also functions to effectively clean the gas. In the case where both the plasma and the metal layer function to clean the gas, there car be obtained synergistic effects. Cleaning of the gas can be conducted with more efficiency by bringing the intake gas into contact with the fan in an oxygen-free state. A magnet provided as an outer wall of the housing serves to generate plasma with higher density, leading to more effective cleaning of the gas.
