  • Patent number: 8743395
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a communication unit, a prohibition unit, an execution unit, and a control unit. The communication unit communicates with an external apparatus. The prohibition unit prohibits the communication unit from communicating with the external apparatus when a command for executing initialization with respect to the image forming apparatus is specified. The execution unit executes a process for accepting set information of the initialization when the prohibition unit prohibits the communication unit from communication with the external apparatus. The control unit executes a process for informing that the initialization should be executed when an elapsed time of a waiting state where input of the set information is not executed exceeds a given period.

  • Publication number: 20120140256
Abstract: A control device includes a device state changing unit, a communication unit, a communication unit, a storage unit, a storage unit state changing unit, and a reducing unit. The device state changing unit changes a state of the control device between a power saving state and a normal state. The communication unit communicates with a controlled device. The storage unit is an object of at least one of reading operation and recording operation by the communication unit. The storage unit stores at least part of information which the communication unit needs for communication with the controlled device. The storage unit state changing unit changes a state of the storage unit between a stored content holding state and a normal state in given cycles. The reducing unit reduces frequency of operation of reading and recording to the storage unit in the communication unit.

  • Publication number: 20070202473
Abstract: A simulation apparatus simulates a process executed by an image forming apparatus. The simulation apparatus includes a first acquiring unit, an image generating unit and a first output unit. The first acquiring unit acquires an image formation command comprising information of a target image. The image generating unit generates an image, which is expected to be output by the image forming apparatus, based on the acquired image formation command. The first output unit coverts the generated image into data in a predetermined format. The first output unit outputs the converted data.

  • Patent number: 7263298
Abstract: In the case of being mounted with any cartridge other than a genuine cartridge, which accommodates a toner other than a genuine toner, a user can select as an operation mode other than that corresponding to a genuine toner, through a UI device 18, making a correction to the consumption of a developer by combining conditions to be changed, such as increasing or decreasing the degree of a change (gradient) in a set value of the toner density with respect to the consumption of a developer (m1 or m2); increasing or decreasing a limit value (m1 or m2); varying an initial value (consumption=0) (m3); no making a change in a set value according to the consumption (m4); and no making a change in a set value according to the consumption, for example, by varying an initial value (m5)

  • Patent number: 7242873
Abstract: An image forming apparatus has at least one replaceable unit replaceably mounted to an image forming apparatus main body. The image forming apparatus outputs a message purporting that a reservation of an operation mode can be received, at the timing that a replacement timing of the replaceable unit which is currently mounted is close in time. If so, prior to the replacement of the replaceable unit which is current mounted, a reservation of an operation mode for a replaceable unit which is to be mounted next time may be received. Further, if the replacement of the replaceable unit is detected, the image forming apparatus starts the control according to the reserved operation mode.

  • Patent number: 7206524
Abstract: Where a toner cartridge other than a genuine product is mounted, the image forming device stops displaying information regarding the usage amount such as the residual amount of toner, etc., and causes the display/input device of the host device to display a screen including information regarding an operation mode and a toner cartridge other than a genuine product. In addition, the image forming device not only stops displaying the residual amount of toner, but also causes the display/input device of the host device to display a screen including information regarding the number of sheets of paper already printed, which is measured or metered from the mounting of a toner cartridge, and the printing coverage thereof.

  • Patent number: 6654139
Abstract: A printer system with an image processing unit includes a separating section, a plurality of drawing sections and an output controller. The separating section divides drawing instructions for a full image data into lists of drawing instructions for partial image data corresponding to blocks. The plurality of drawing sections executes the lists of drawing instruction to produce the partial image data for the blocks. The output controller sequentially reads out the partial image data based on a block position such that the full image data is outputted.

  • Publication number: 20020091724
Abstract: In a printer controller, first and second interfaces are respectively associated with first and second print data sources. Print data from each of the first and second print data sources is divided into data blocks each containing multiple pages. When the first interface is enabled, a data block of the first print data is printed, and the process continues on the next data block if no print request is received from the second print data source. If the second print data source is requesting a print interrupt, control is granted to the second interface when multiple pages of the first print data source have been printed.
