  • Patent number: 6383309
Abstract: A ferritic stainless steel plate of excellent ridging resistance and formability, as well as a manufacturing method thereof are proposed. Specifically, the rolling is conducted at a rolling reduction of 30% or more in at least 1 pass and at a temperature difference between the center of the plate thickness and the surface of 200° C. or lower in a pass for the maximum rolling reduction to cause the area ratio of a {111} orientation colony to be present by 30% or more in the regions of ⅛ to ⅜ and ⅝ to ⅞ of the plate thickness. The {111} orientation colony is an assembly of adjacent crystals in which the angle of <111> orientation vector for each of the crystals relative to the direction vector vertical to the rolling surface is within 15°.

  • Patent number: 6306341
Abstract: The present invention provides a stainless steel having superior corrosion resistance, antibacterial properties, and durability, the antibacterial properties being maintained after surface treatments commonly performed including, for example, polishing. In particular, the stainless steel contains not less than 10 percent by weight of chromium, 0.001 to 0.30 percent by weight of silver, or further contains 0.001 to 1.0 percent by weight of vanadium. In addition, not less than 0.0005 weight percent of a silver oxide, the amount thereof being not more than 1.1 times that of the silver, is dispersed in the stainless steel. In order to homogeneously disperse the silver oxide in the stainless steel, when continuous casting of molten steel is performed, the casting rate for the continuous casting is preferably 0.8 to 1.6 m/min. A method for manufacturing the stainless steel is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6180162
Abstract: An excellent antibacterial property is afforded upon a metallic article by simple steps of coating a dispersion liquid or a solution of fine particles made of an antibacterial ingredient on the surface of the metallic article and pressing the resulting coated surface of the metallic article under a non-heated condition or rubbing the resulting coated surface of the metallic article. In addition, a conventional rolling step or the like can be used itself without any change in the above treatment, which is economically extremely advantageous. Furthermore, since the antibacterial metallic article according to the present invention is obtained under the non-heated condition, the antibacterial ingredient is not deteriorated. Further, since the antibacterial property is not lost through some abrasion, excellent antibacterial property can be exhibited over an extended time period. Further, there is no fear that surface characteristics of the metallic article, for example, a tone of color will change.

Abstract: Novel cyclic adenosine monophosphate derivatives represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein A stands for --S-- or --NH-- and n is an integer of from 2 to 12, ARE SUPERIOR TO KNOWN CYCLIC ADENOSIENE DERIVATIVES IN BIOLOGICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES, ESPECIALLY PDE-inhibiting activity and membrane permeability. Accordingly, these derivatives are very effective for remedying and controlling diseases caused by disorder of the intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate level, such as asthma and scabies. These derivaives can readily be synthesized by reacting an 8-halogeno cyclic adenosine monophosphate of the following general formula ##STR2## wherein X is a halogen atom such as bromine, with an alkali metal salt of a linear alkylmercaptan having 3 to 13 carbon atoms in the alkyl group or a linear alkylamine having 3 to 13 carbon atoms in the alkyl group.
