  • Patent number: 4908055
Abstract: A manufacturing method of a fluorescent lamp having a bent discharge path, which comprises the steps of press-molding a straight glass tube, after heating and softening it, into a bulb having a bent discharge path, while blowing a pressurized gas into the discharge path. A fluorescent lamp having a U-shaped discharge path which is integrally connected through a narrow plate. A slit is formed at least in a portion of the narrow plate adjacent to a sealing portion.

  • Patent number: 4794301
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp apparatus according to the present invention comprises a base member, a fluorescent lamp, and lighting means. The base member is a hollow member having a threaded base which can be screwed into the same type of socket as is used in ordinary incandescent lamps. It has a partition wall, and is divided thereby into a circuit chamber and an air chamber. The circuit chamber is located close to the base, and the air chamber communicates with the atmosphere. The lamp is attached to the base member, and comprises a tubular envelope, a pair of electrodes, and a mercury-vapor pressure adjusting means. The envelope is bent in shape, thus forming a discharge passage of a predetermined configuration, is sealed in an airtight fashion, and has both ends located close to the base member. The electrodes are contained within the end portions of the envelope.

  • Patent number: 4503358
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp device according to the present invention includes a ballast, a screw base electrically connected to the ballast, a fluorescent tube curved in an arc at three portions thereof, a bowl-shaped member for housing the ballast with the screw base fixed projecting outside therefrom, a globe, and a partition plate attached to an open end of the member so as to thermally isolate or insulate the ballast from the fluorescent tube and to which the fluorescent tube is fixed. The bowl-shaped member is provided with a plurality of ventilating slits for discharging heat radiated from the ballast, and also with air-ducts for communicating the space inside the globe with the outside air. The globe is also provided with holes at the top portion thereof.

  • Patent number: 4456854
Abstract: A compact fluorescent lamp having a chassis member including a cylindrical part including a generally cylindrical thread portion and a cylindrical straight portion. A longitudinal recess is provided on the outside of the cylindrical part. The chassis member also includes a holding plate and a maintaining plate including an edge wall member and projections having notches. A screw base is secured to the thread portions of the cylindrical part and a base member is attached to the cylindrical part. A winding envelope formed by bending a straight tube twice into U-shapes and a ballast are respectively mounted to the maintaining plate and the holding plate, and a globe member is attached to the base member.

  • Patent number: 4389595
Abstract: An envelope comprises a bowl-shaped component with a screw base and a bulb of a translucent material. A fluorescent tube bent a plurality of times and a reactance ballast are encased in the envelope. This fluorescent tube and the reactance ballast are fixed to a supporting plate. The bend part of the fluorescent tube protrudes through the supporting plate toward the side of the bowl-shaped component. A plurality of openings are formed in the bowl-shaped component at parts corresponding to the bend part of the fluorescent tube. A plurality of openings are formed in the supporting plate at parts near the reactance ballast fixed to the supporting plate.
