  • Patent number: 8798003
Abstract: There is provided a hybrid communication terminal which can overcome a drawback that, in performing switching a system between a 3G network and a WiMAX/LTE is performed under control of a mobile unit, when an IP address allocated to a mobile unit from the network differs before and after system switching, an active session of communication application is disconnected so that it is impossible to continue the communication. In automatically switching connection between different systems during communication, in order to conceal from the communication application that an IP address assigned by the network is changed, an exchange of user data with the communication network is performed via a virtual network device where the IP address is always the same.

  • Patent number: 8761845
Abstract: It is provided a communication apparatus connected to first and second wireless networks which performs handover between the first and second wireless networks, including first and second wireless functional units which obtain connection states and wireless quality of the wireless networks. A transmitter and a receiver of the first wireless functional unit are activated, a transmitter of the second wireless functional unit is deactivated, a receiver of the second wireless functional unit is activated and the wireless quality of the first wireless network and the second wireless network are obtained when a connection between the first wireless functional unit and the first wireless network is in a connected state. The transmitter and the receiver of the first wireless functional unit are deactivated, the transmitter and the receiver of the second wireless functional unit are activated and the data suppression process is canceled after the completion of the handover.

  • Publication number: 20110182221
Abstract: When two networks are simultaneously connected on a side of a communication terminal by operating circuits corresponding to each of the two networks, the communication terminal requires about two times more power from a PC than a normal single terminal, resulting in a significant limitation in the number of interfaces to be used on the PC. Accordingly, in order to solve these problems, there is provided a mechanism for temporarily deactivating a major power consuming part of the circuit corresponding to the network currently connected to the communication terminal while measuring the wireless communication quality between the communication terminal and the other network, determining whether an inter-system handover is possible, and performing a handover from the current network to the other network when it is determined to be possible.

  • Patent number: 7953406
Abstract: An access point diagnosis unit 201 controls a radio access terminal portion 213 included in the access point 100, to execute a test of connection with the access point 100. A switch within the access point selectively connects the radio access terminal portion 213, with any of an antenna and radio reception parts of the own access point 100. In accordance with a failing part, the failure information which contains the failing part and/or a failure content is transmitted from the radio access terminal portion 213 to the radio access terminal 108 (1) along a first path tracing the radio reception part connected by the switch, etc. of the access point 100, or (2) along a second path tracing the antenna connected by the switch and the other access point 101.
