    Abstract: A device for extracting water from a load of articles which have been washed uses fluid pressure to exert a force on the load. A system controls the fluid pressure such that only low pressure is applied to the load for a predetermined period of time at the beginning of the water extracting operation. Subsequently, the load is subjected to a high pressure exerted by the fluid.
