  • Patent number: 7624716
Abstract: A throttle valve of the invention includes a clearance closing member provided along a peripheral edge of a valve body displaceably and elastically deformable in a direction extending along an axis of an intake passage, a direction perpendicular to the axis of the intake passage, and a direction inclined with respect to the axis of the intake passage, for closing a clearance between the peripheral edge of the valve body and an inner wall surface of the intake passage.

  • Publication number: 20090020099
Abstract: Provided is a butterfly valve-type throttle valve of an internal combustion engine capable of absorbing a dispersion in valve opening degree at closed positions to reduce a leakage of air by solving problems, for example, with a multi-arrayed variable intake valve device in which a plurality of throttle valves mounted on a single turning shaft are opened and closed, a dispersion in valve opening degree is liable to occur at the closed positions due to the mounting errors of the throttle valves on the turning shaft and, accordingly, it is difficult to reduce the leakage of air. A clearance closing member (12) is supported in a floating state along a peripheral edge of a valve body (11) and displaced or elastically deformed to eliminate or reduce a clearance between the clearance closing member and an inner wall surface (2a) of an intake passage.

  • Patent number: 6938816
Abstract: A method is provided for diffusion bonding a first member (20) and a second member (3) to each other. According to this method, a first joint portion (24) of the first member and a second joint portion (34) of the second member are fitted to each other with a predetermined interference. Thereafter, the first and second members are heated under a condition substantially without oxygen, so that the first and second joint portions are diffusion bonded to each other.

  • Patent number: 6588203
Abstract: An engine including a silencer in the exhaust passage thereof, wherein an exhaust gas flow passage pipe is arranged in the silencer body and a particulate filter is arranged inside the exhaust gas flow passage pipe. A first exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening and a second exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening of the exhaust gas passage pipe and an exhaust gas inflow opening to the silencer body are arranged at one end of the silencer body. The exhaust gas is selectively supplied to the first exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening, second exhaust gas inflow-outflow opening, and exhaust gas inflowing opening.

  • Patent number: 4945874
Abstract: A throttle body for an internal combustion engine, comprising a suction passage for supplying a suction air to the internal combustion engine; a throttle valve provided in the suction passage and fixed to a rotatable throttle valve shaft so as to adjust a quantity of the suction air; an interconnecting lever rotatably mounted to an interconnecting shaft and adapted to be rotated by pulling an accelerator cable; a throttle valve operating lever mechanically connected to the interconnecting lever and fixed to the throttle valve shaft, the throttle valve operating lever being rotated in predetermined relational association with rotation of the interconnecting lever to open and close the throtle valve; and a tension spring for normally biasing the throttle valve in a valve closing direction, the tension spring having one end or pivotal point fixed to a part fixed to the throttle body and the other end or operation point fixed to the throttle valve operating lever; wherein the pivotal point and the operation point

  • Patent number: 4860706
Abstract: A throttle valve comprising a first outer peripheral portion linearly contacting an inner wall of an intake passage at a predetermined throttle angle and a second outer peripheral portion formed in the vicinity of a throttle shaft in such a manner as to gently continue from the first outer peripheral portion and not contacting the inner wall at the predetermined throttle angle. With this arrangement, as there is defined a space between the second outer peripheral portion and the inner wall in the vicinity of the throttle shaft, the generation of scuffing and biting of the throttle valve against the inner wall may be prevented. Further, as the first outer peripheral portion of the throttle valve linearly contacts the inner wall at the closing position, the leakage of suction air upon full closing of the throttle valve may be suppressed.
