Patent number: 11330858Abstract: Plural contact pieces of a shaft member, which is mounted to a helmet main body, abut a cam surface that is formed at a hole portion provided in a proximal end portion of a chin guard. When the chin guard is rotated from a fully closed position to a fully open position with respect to the helmet main body, at least one of the contact pieces abuts an anchor surface, and, simultaneously, at least another one contact piece fits into a concave portion, and, due thereto, the chin guard is fixed with respect to the helmet main body.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2018Date of Patent: May 17, 2022Assignee: SHOEI CO., LTDInventor: Taku Nimura

Publication number: 20210106092Abstract: Sealability between a helmet and a shield is improved. The helmet includes a main hat body, a shield, and a seal member. The main hat body is substantially spherical and includes an aperture window that opens forward to provide a field of view to a wearer. The shield is connected to a pair of turning mechanisms protruding from two side faces of the main hat body, and is movable between a closed position at which the shield is located so as to close off the aperture window and an open position at which the shield is located so as to open the aperture window. When the shield is at the closed position, the seal member seals a gap between an upper edge of the shield and an upper edge of the aperture window of the main hat body from a vicinity of one of the turning mechanisms to a vicinity of another of the turning mechanisms. An upper end portion of the shield is inflected toward the main hat body at least at upper edges of left and right end portion vicinities of the seal member.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2018Publication date: April 15, 2021Inventors: Masayuki SHIDA, Taku NIMURA

Patent number: 10660392Abstract: A helmet includes an operation mechanism, which is accommodated in an accommodation portion, on an outer shell of the helmet for operating an anti-glare visor with a transmission cable. One wall surface at an end of the accommodation portion in an operation direction defines an end surface including an insertion hole extending through the outer shell for passage of the transmission cable.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2018Date of Patent: May 26, 2020Assignee: SHOEI CO., LTD.Inventors: Taku Nimura, Yoshiyuki Ikeda

Patent number: 10212982Abstract: A chin guard support mechanism includes first and second fixed-side members, and a moving-side member fixed to the chin guard. When the chin guard pivots forward from a down position in a rising direction, an annular following surface provided on the moving-side member pivots forward while following an annular followed surface provided on the second fixed-side member to make the chin guard rise while moving forward. It is possible to provide a helmet that allows the chin guard support mechanism capable of relatively excellently raising/lowering the chin guard to have a simple structure, allows to operate the chin guard support mechanism smoothly, obviates the necessity of making the structure in a region including an end of the chin guard including the chin guard support mechanism and a vicinity thereof bulky, and obviates the necessity of making the widthwise size of the helmet large.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2012Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Assignee: SHOEI CO., LTD.Inventor: Taku Nimura
