  • Patent number: 8479235
Abstract: This invention is intended to allow user to easily and quickly set the preset recording of television programs on recording devices. When setting the preset recording of a television program on a VCR, the user of a personal computer first accesses an EPG server on the Internet to download the preset recording data of that program. The personal computer converts the downloaded preset recording data into a G-code and transmits the G-code from a video mouse to the VCR as an infrared signal. The VCR decodes the received G-code, recognizes the program to be preset for recording, and sets the preset recording of the recognized program.

  • Patent number: 8132209
Abstract: This invention relates to an information processing apparatus for allowing a user at a remote location to make easy and quick reservation of a TV program for unattended recording over a network. In step S103, the user accesses an EPG server to get an HTML-based TV program information screen displayed on the user's camera-equipped digital mobile telephone and reserves through the screen a desired program for unattended recording. In response, a main control unit of the telephone requests the EPG server to attach recording reservation data about the program reserved by the user to an e-mail and to send the e-mail to the user's personal computer along with the attachment. Given the send request, the EPG server retrieves the recording reservation data from an EPG information database in step S112, and attaches the retrieved data to an e-mail via the internet before sending the e-mail to the personal computer in step S113, the personal computer being located remotely such as in the user's home.

  • Patent number: 7735110
Abstract: The present invention provides an information processing apparatus, an information processing method and a program storage medium. The user of a personal computer selects a television program to be preset recorded from a program guide stored in an EPG server and downloads the corresponding preset recording data. When, from the downloaded preset recording data, a recording start time is found reached, the personal computer selects commands for starting recording a channel to be recorded and transmits the selected commands from a video mouse as infrared signals. Receiving the recording start command, a VCR starts recording.

  • Patent number: 7620965
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and an information processing method are disclosed. A personal computer receives a program guide and displays it. Then, the personal computer sends information for identifying a user-specified program to an iEPG site. In response, the iEPG site generates preset recording data corresponding to the user-specified program and acquires advertisement-associated data. Then, the iEPG site sends the generated preset recording data and the acquired advertisement-associated data to the personal computer. Thus, the apparatus and method can make users of preset recording data view advertisement.

  • Publication number: 20080114834
Abstract: A server 102 and user apparatuses 103 through 105, 106A through 108A, and 106B through 108B are connected to a network to configure a social networking system. The server 102 stores multimedia data of respective users and best friend lists for identifying users with whom the respective users have established a relationship of best friends within a range of a certain number of users which can be considered as private use. When the server 102 receives an access request from one of the user apparatuses 103 through 105, 106A through 108A, and 106B through 108B, the server 102 permits the one user apparatus to access the multimedia data of the user of the one user apparatus and the multimedia data of users with whom the user of the one user apparatus has established the relationship of best friends.
