  • Publication number: 20110310488
Abstract: A direct-viewing type display device 100A includes: at least one display panel 10 which has a display region 10A and a frame region 10F provided outside the display region, the display region 10A and the frame region 10F being separated by a boundary B1 extending in a first direction D1; and at least one light-transmitting cover 20 provided on a viewer side of the at least one display panel 10. The at least one light-transmitting cover 20 includes a lens portion 22 which is disposed astride the boundary B1, the lens portion 22 being configured to refract part of light going out from the display region 10A in the frame region 10F. A light exit surface 22a of the lens portion 22 is a curved surface, and at least part of the light exit surface 22a is provided with an antireflection treatment. According to the present invention, a direct-viewing type display device is provided in which the frame region of the display panel is obscured, and reflection of the environment in the lens portion is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20110304656
Abstract: A display device (10) includes an upper substrate (first substrate) (2), a lower substrate (second substrate) (3), and a conductive liquid (16) that is sealed in a display space (S) formed between the upper substrate (2) and the lower substrate (3) so as to be moved toward an effective display region (P1) or a non-effective display region (P2). Ribs (14) are provided on the lower substrate (3) so as to partition the inside of the display space (S) in accordance with each of a plurality of pixel regions (P). The ribs (14) include first rib members (14a) formed in a perpendicular direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of the conductive liquid (16) and second rib members (14b) formed in a parallel direction parallel to the direction of movement of the conductive liquid (16). Clearances (K) are formed between each of the ends of the first and second rib members (14a, 14b).

  • Publication number: 20090284683
Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display panel with microlenses in which deformation, peeling, and the like of an optical film are not likely to occur and which has a good displaying quality. A liquid crystal display panel according to the present invention includes: a microlens array provided on a light-incident side of a liquid crystal display panel; a support provided on the light-incident side of the liquid crystal display panel so as to surround the microlens array; and an optical film attached to the liquid crystal display panel via the support. A gap is formed between the microlens array and the optical film; at least one vent hole connecting a space outside the support and the gap is formed in the support; and, when seen perpendicularly with respect to the plane of the liquid crystal display panel, the vent hole extends in a bending manner or the vent hole extends in an oblique direction with respect to an inner face of the support.
